20.01.2022 Let’s talk watering One of the biggest, commonly seen mistakes we hear of is killing your plant with kindnessthat is, over-watering! * How much water a plant requires can be specific to the species but generally, most indoor plants require a good watering once or twice a week during summer and once every two weeks in winter. * If you see the leaves dropping or developing brown tips, it means you’re either over or under watering your plant.... * A nifty way to check if your plant is thirsty is to pop your finger down into the soli; if the soil is dry then it needs a watering. If the soil is still wet, leave it a few more days and then check again. * Get into the habit of checking on the soil of your plants every 3-4 days, that way you’ll be able to monitor how much watering they require before it’s too late and you end up with a sad plant. * As a general rule of thumb, plants that require more watering should receive 1-2 cups. Those who need less watering will survive on a cup. Now with the colder weather setting in, try to avoid watering plants with cold water direct from the tap, to prevent shock to plants. I literally loved it to death (which my sister in law (a horticulturalist) thought was hilarious! * Favourite plant and why. - indoor is probably fiddle leaf fig. I just love the vibrancy of the leaves, and I love how lush they are. It looks amazing when there are a few stems in a pot to create thickness. They’re beautiful! * Most useful tip/trick - not all plants require the same amount of water. Stick your finger into the soil to determine dryness * Why plants - love the life they bring to your home. Also love the thrill it brings when they yield new leaves! * Fussiest plant - orchids. I don’t even bother anymore!!
