24.01.2022 Jane du Rand (@jane_du_rand) will lead a 7-day intensive ceramic and mosaic experience in 2020 to fully immerse you in the world of ceramic and mosaic art. You will learn from Australias leading ceramic and mosaic artist to design, create and install a significant art work from start to finish. This is the first masterclass that Jane has run in 8 years since moving to Australia, so is not to be missed. Students will experience a multi-dimensional art program involving a rang...e of technical, creative and cultural experiences. You will have space to develop their own style while learning how to harness and unify group dynamics at the same time as working to a professional creative brief. Individually, you will create bespoke ceramic moulds and create gallery-standard ceramic reliefs in harmony with mosaics. Collectively, you will produce a public art installation that will live permanently in the Yeerongpilly Creative Art Precinct and add value to your art CV. Your week will include valuable walks in nature and visits to inspect completed ceramic and mosaic installations, allowing opportunities for rejuvenation, inspiration and research. In addition to learning how to create a large-scale public art installation, you will take home with you a number of moulds and ceramic pieces that you made during the week. 04.01.2022 Last night I dreamt of Jane du Rand. She was laughing like a madwoman cutting iridescent glass tiles into ever smaller geometric pieces (snap, snap, snap!) and pouring them over me like rain. This went on for six days, and on the seventh I turned into a giant Red-Rumped Parrot with intricate feathers and shiny red eyes and flew into a wall outside Plant Empire where I solidified into baked clay. All around me was a shimmering rainbow of glass tiles and eyes (the eyes!) of on...lookers peering into mine unblinking and back at their cameras to take their selfies. It remained like this every day to forever as more eyes and family and friends of eyes came to peer into mine. Do you have similar dreams?
