21.01.2022 Check out this little beauty. It can take 2 years or more for a pineapple plant to bear fruit - Mother Nature really does work hard to provide such delicious food for us. Pineapples are a great source of vitamin C and are also the only source of the plant compound bromelain - which is associated with many health benefits, such as enhanced immune function, cancer prevention, improved wound healing, anti inflammatory and better gut health. Most of the bromelain in pineapples, is found in the core which is the tough, fibrous part of the fruit. So, to get the most bromelain into your diet, take the core and juice it or blend it up in your next smoothie.

10.01.2022 The timeless tradition of licking the bowl after mum has made a fresh batch of muffins. It just never gets old - except the ingredients we now use have changed a lot. When I was a kid, we used all the old school ingredients - white flour, white sugar, chocolate chips, milk, butter and eggs. Now its my turn at being the Mum and thanks to the advances made in science I have learnt a lot about these types of ingredients and the processes they go through leaving them with little nutritional value. Instead I make a muffin mix with lots of delicious whole foods such as nuts, seeds, cacao, coconut oil, flax eggs, coconut, banana and maple syrup just to name a few. The possibilities are endless, and as you can see the kids love it!

01.01.2022 Try our Gluten Free Power Bars recipe. These bars are a fantastic snack to keep you fuelled with energy between meals containing a huge amount of nutrients packed into a dense little treat. The addition of goji berries really gives these power bars a lift and some added nutrition. Here's some fun facts about goji berries: - Goji Berries grow in temperate regions in China, Mongolia and in the Tibetan Himalayas - Legend says a man named Li Qing Yuen consumed Goji Berries dail...y and lived to be 252 years old! - A Chinese study published in 1994 found that people with cancer responded better to treatment when goji berry was added to their regimen - The Ningxia Hui region of Northern China, where goji berries are grown and eaten on a daily basis, has 16 times more centenarians as the rest of the country. - A daily serving of goji berries (about 30 grams) has more vitamin C than oranges, more beta carotene than carrots and more iron than steak. However, consuming too many can be an issue as they are also high in selenium - of which the right amount help keep the liver healthy but too much can be toxic. Like everything its all about balance. - Health benefits include - boosted immune system, potential weight loss aid, antioxidants for eyes and skin, maintain blood sugar.
