14.01.2022 Yesterday I had our final 'official' coaching session with an amazing human being. I joined her on her journey following over 20 years of debilitating back pain and 2 knee surgeries,. On heavy pain killers, anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic medications. She had been to every type of physician with only short term relief. She could barely walk to the letterbox and was sitting for long periods in her work. I am pleased to report she now walks every day, and for an hour... when she has time. She has little to no pain, is off the medications, has abundant energy. She is smashing it in the kitchen and even making meals once a week to take to family members. With massive improvement in her physical well-being, relationships, mental health, work environment and finances. She now has her @$%^ together and the tools to stay on top of it all even when the chips are down. This would not have been achieved without her commitment to her own well-being and putting her trust in me to guide her. 3 months may feel like a long time but it is what is often needed to make sustainable change without feeling rushed and overwhelmed. I work with my clients to adjust as they are comfortable and most of them make the big shifts by themselves because, as you feel better, you want to treat yourself better. It doesn't matter how ill you are or how long you have been sick, your body is a super healing machine if you allow it to do it's thing. I have such a buzz when I talk to my clients and see them change from pain and hopelessness to vibrancy and confidence. No wonder I love what I do.

05.01.2022 Useful plants. There are so many wonderful plants that we have come to see as weeds. Dandelion grows easily in most parts of Australia. You can buy dandelion tea from the supermarket but how lovely to be able to make your own.

05.01.2022 VITAMIN D and sickness. Are you aware that the Covid-19 virus cannot survive the sun? Are you aware that Vitamin D is essential for immune function?... Are you aware that Vitamin D is programmed cell death (Killing cancer cellls)? Are you aware that more recently Vitamin D has been shown to lower CRP which is an inflammation marker used to identify risk factors of heart disease, cancer and diabetes? And here's the kicker!! There's been more than 60 studies in the last 14 years have shown that appropriate levels of Vit D can reduce the overall cancer risk by 77%. Included in this is a reduction in risk of breast cancer by 50% and colon cancer by 80%. Besides cancer and diabetes, vitamin D deficiency has also been linked to osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, IBS, MS and autism. These are the not the only causes but they still play a role. So here is how we make vitamin D in our bodies and what you can do to get enough. STOP wearing standard sunscreens. Most sunscreens on the market (about 90%) contain a chemical called octyl methoxycinnamate (OMC) which filters out the sun's UVB rays. When the UVB rays hit our skin, it triggers something called 7-dehydrocholesterol (as the name infers, this is a precursor to cholesterol - a good thing) and this converts in the body to D3 (cholecalciferol). You don't want to be blocking out UVB from the sun. And this would explain why, in a country like Australia with such a sunny climate and outdoors lifestyle, that many Aussies are vitamin D deficient - sunscreen. Plus, many sunscreens have other potentially carcinogenic chemicals in them. Any light bulb moments yet? If you are to be out in the sun for a long period of time, choose natural sunscreens such as aloe vera or coconut oil which have a natural SPF of around 7. Where protective clothing. Get used to being in the sun. Start a little at a time and build up. I am not saying to sit out in the sun until you get burnt. Definitely not. In fact, damage to skin cells from sunburn can lead to cancer so take it easy. And, if you really seem to be intolerant to even small amounts of sunlight, look at your vitamin B status. There have been many studies linking vitamin B deficiency to sunburn. During the winter months, look for a supplement that contains D3. Many on the market contain D2 which is not the right one. Also, milk is said to contain vitamin D but, again this is the D2 and we need D3 (cholecalciferol) which is made by the UVB rays from the sun.
