07.01.2022 It’s National #RecyclingWeek and we’re getting creative with our #upcycling! To reduce our impact we’re following the four R’s: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, in that order! It’s best to avoid waste as early as possible, ideally by not buying it in the first place. We’re avoiding plastic plant pots by upcycling aluminium cans to plant our succulents (Reuse!). ... Check out this website for instructions on how to make your own colourful can planters: experthometips.com/crazy-cute-way-upcycle-empty-drink-can #craft #upcycle #NationalRecyclingWeek #ReduceReuseRecycle #sustainability

07.01.2022 Which bin do these go in?! Did you know that long life milk containers and ice cream tubs are NOT usually recyclable in council curbside recycling bins? Wish-cycling is when we throw anything that we think *might maybe hopefully* be recyclable into our recycling bins. While we would love for everything to be recyclable, wish-cycling results in lots of contamination.... If non-recyclable items end up in recycling bins they are classed as ‘contamination’, which increases the cost of recycling and can cause the rest of your otherwise recyclable waste to go to landfill! Check with your local council to find out which materials are actually recyclable in your curbside bin.
