25.01.2022 We work hard to make our clients happy and to improve safety on their homes and businesses. We really value getting their feedback, like this we got recently.

21.01.2022 The right heater lets you continue using your indoor/outdoor space as the temps drop. We recently installed this teeny tiny heater for a Northern Beaches client. This heater is the size of an old fluoro light yet is amazingly powerful. With new technology, outdoor heaters are now available in really compact shapes while creating a powerful heat for all of your cozy indoor/outdoor spaces. Talk to one of our technicians to explore your options.

17.01.2022 You know the jingle by now.... change your clocks, change your smoke detector batteries. It is also a great time to check if the unit is more than 10 years old as well as review the location of your smoke alarms. It is recommended that they are fitted in all sleeping and living areas. It is also a good idea to have interconnected smoke alarms - so that when one is activated by smoke, all smoke alarms will sound to alert that there is a fire. If you have any questions about smoke alarms in your home, contact us today.

16.01.2022 Proud Dad Moment! We're starting Tilly on her apprenticeship a few years early and she's already doing better than many of the apprentices we've come across. Power tools might have to wait a few years though... ... P.S. don't tell mum! Total Tools Milwauke Tools

14.01.2022 Outside / Inside. Like a duck on a pond, this little vent is hiding some heavy duty work behinds the scenes. Underfloor ventilation fan and ducting work to move over 1,000L per hour of moist air from under the home to outside, preventing mound and mildew. The system is on an automated timer so this family never has to worry about it again! And all the is left to see from outside is the tiny vent that is just two-bricks high. A great system that works well for many of our clients and a cost effective way of keeping your family breathing easy.

13.01.2022 Rain in the Roof. We’ve seen lots of instances where water and power have mixed in places they shouldn't recently. Here’s a good example of what lights shouldn’t do.

13.01.2022 With all of the recent rain, there really has never been a better time to install underfloor ventilation. Here’s a system we replaced recently and it’s working like magic. @ Manly, New South Wales

12.01.2022 Here's what an old halogen downlight can do when not installed correctly. We see this often in roof-spaces all around the Northern Beaches and North Shore. Not only are old halogen downlights potentially dangerous they also cost much more to run and don't last as long as new LED downlights. LED downlights are becoming increasingly more affordable. Give us a call today to find out more ... #northernbeaches #manly #manlyaustralia #electricalsafety

06.01.2022 We were called to an emergency in Newport at 9pm on Monday night when a clients power suddenly went out. They had a few minor blackout/brown outs over the last week or so and occasionally the lights would dim down or start flickering especially when using other appliances. They had just begun to cook dinner on the induction cooktop when the power went out for good. They checked the switchboard and everything was still turned on however there was a strong burning smell coming... from the box. They called us immediately. It was past 9pm when we received their call and dispatched a technician who arrived on site within 20 minutes. We carried out testing and diagnostics and were quickly able to locate a 'hot join' behind the main switch. This occurs when cables become loose and pull away from the contacts of the main switch causing arcing which can creating hot flashes of electricity. The melting of the cable and enclosure then exacerbates the issue. Plateau Electrical were able to isolate the issue, supply a new main switch and re-terminate the cable in a safe manner. The owners had their power back up and running and the peace of mind that there house was safe over night. Whether it's 3pm or 3am, Plateau Electrical is here to help!

06.01.2022 The dangers of Arcing. Our client in Manly had a dryer in their laundry. It was a tight fit and the machine pushed the plug slightly out of the socket. This causes arcing between the 3-pin plug and the socket. Arcing occurs when proper contact isn't made between two electrical conductors. The result is a super-hot flash. This happens most frequently on appliances that draw a heavier load (think cooktops, kettles, dryers, heaters, etc) and can cause the plug and/or socket to ...melt away as was the case here. Another frequent cause are loose connections (where a screw has not been properly tightened). This was evident in the our post last week regarding the emergency in Newport (https://bit.ly/plateau_emergency) #emergency #northernbeaches #manly #electrical #sydneyaustralia
