12.01.2022 It was great to meet and chat earlier this week with Phill Favelle, the owner and founder of Platinum Locksmiths in the Hills district. Platinum provides a c...omprehensive offering including mobile services, car keys and remotes, commercial re-keying and, as a recent innovation, instore (public) services through their warehouse unit in Salisbury Road Castle Hill. So what sets Platinum Locksmiths apart from a crowded field? When talking to Phill I was personally impressed with his insistence on quality. Over years he has engaged a range of apprentices and tradesmen with varying results. Today, his current team, including his two trade qualified locksmiths (Luke and Brad) and his wife (Jen) is a smooth running machine. A great team, working from a state of the art workshop, who all share Phill’s vision and values and deliver customer service at a level that other locksmiths crave. His stream of referrals from existing clients stands testament to the quality of service and culture that has been threaded through Platinum Locksmiths. Phill started his apprenticeship at the age of 20. He worked with a few different locksmiths while he honed his skills, learnt the business. Platinum started in 2008 in a garage, before moving to a van, before winding its way to its current location in August 2019, when he opened his doors to the public for the first time. As I sat in Phill’s office, my attention was also drawn to the Batman paraphernalia adorning the walls and desk. Phill is a self-professed Batman fanatic. He also feeds his creativity through Lego, and he is an amateur blacksmith, and amateur bladesmith and loves vintage tooling.
