22.01.2022 Looking for some feedback here... 50% (or more!) of people are still buying their meat from Coles or Woolworth's, we want to know why? Other than their ridiculous specials which are not matchable from a local butcher, price wise is much of a muchness. Is it just an inconvenience to pull up at the butchers when you can grab what you need at Coles or Woolworth's? Quality? Service? Let us know... Two butcher shops have closed down in the Canberra region so far this month and man...y more have been put up for sale. we aren't even half way through the month yet. Now i know the main reason people will be saying is "we know exactly what to pay at the supermarket" which we understand is handy when it comes to budgeting for the week, but by law butcher shops aren't aloud to sell cuts as "each" they have to by law be sold per kg, unless we pre package everything we can then label it with an exact price but that is an extra cost most butchers cant afford to pay. we are making changes to our pricing tickets you will see in the display as you walk past, instead of just a per kg price, we will be adding underneath a rough estimate of how much a single steak or chop will cost, keep in mind it is only a rough estimate as no two steaks will be identical in weight or size so allow for a dollar or two adjustment either way depending on how much you purchase. changes have already been made in our online store where everything is sold pre packaged at a set price so you know exactly what you are getting and exactly how much you will be paying. what else can we do to accommodate the average shopper? not just us but other butchers in the region too. most butchers in a single region know each other and even though they are the "competition" we are all in this together and hate to see anyone go out of business. i am happy to answer any questions anyone has and your feedback will go a long way to helping us serve our community for years to come.
