22.01.2022 Its funny how life works out. This photo shows our Senior Consultant Matt after installing Evacuation Diagrams for our client Ben from Platinum Safety and Trai...ning Matt and Ben first met in their capacity as Professional Firefighters at their first day at college almost 10 years to the day previous! Now here they are working with each other in their capacities at Pre-Empt and Platinum Safety and Training. Ben specialises in Confined Space and Working at Heights Training and when he needed Evacuation Diagrams for his premises in Prestons, there was only one number to call! Its important Small Business dont overlook the little things like Diagrams and Emergency Plans. We all want to ensure a safe environment for our staff and clients but it could have a financial impact on top. 06.01.2022 One of the major hazards when working in confined spaces is the possibility of unsafe oxygen levels. The normal level of oxygen within the air is approx. 21%. When working in a confined space, oxygen levels must be between 19.5% - 23.5%. Reasons for lower oxygen concentrations can be contributed by: Displacement by other contaminates from biological processes... Oxidation from rust Combustion Absorption from organic matter, eg. Grains, soil etc Higher concentrations of oxygen can occur from spills or leaks from oxygen cylinders or from some chemical reactions. This can increase the chance of combustion. To ensure a safe atmosphere at all times, atmospheric monitoring must be carried out prior and during work in confined spaces. Platinum Safety and Training conduct MSMWHS217 - Gas test atmospheres. Contact us for more information.

05.01.2022 Working safely at heights includes either one or more of the following control measures. 1. Fall prevention device (barriers) 2. Work positioning systems (restraint system) 3. Allowing them to position themselves with an adjustable lanyard, allowing full access to the workspace whilst maintaining safety from any live edges.
