24.01.2022 Such a calm environment here this morning Painting while listening to relaxing music helps children to feel calm, recharged and promotes a sense of wellbeing

24.01.2022 Finger painting fun outside :) At first the children looked at me funny when I started squirting paint on the table! They soon got the idea and had a ball. Lots of mess & smiling faces!

22.01.2022 Play dough has got to be my favourite open-ended sensory experience for children. Play dough has a wide array of developmental, learning, and sensory benefits for kids. It helps develop and strengthen the hand muscles, improves fine motor skills, introduces different textures, encourages imagination and so much more. This week we explored natural coloured play dough with fragrant rosemary from our garden and even introduced some dinosaurs!

21.01.2022 We’ve had a busy two weeks settling in new children, getting to know them & their individual personalities. The children have loved exploring a new environment and are developing a sense of belonging - demonstrating that they feel safe, secure & supported (EYLF Outcome 1)

21.01.2022 Natural/recycled material loose parts area - down low for the younger children to explore.

21.01.2022 We have been very busy over the past couple of weeks!

19.01.2022 I love watching the little ones problem solve & play alongside eachother :) so glad to be back working this week!

18.01.2022 Just a few photos of the last few months :)

18.01.2022 A great day for dressing up!

18.01.2022 Ryder thinks his reflection is a bit cute & I agree! Mirrors are a great way for the little ones to explore aspects of identity & begin to recognise who they are (Outcome 1.1)

17.01.2022 The children had a great time time today at the the All Abilities Playground. There were lots of fun activities available to help celebrate Children's week :)

15.01.2022 Ryder & Madison loved playing with the musical instruments & sensory bottles today. We also sang songs and watched our expressions & hand movements in the mirror. Music experiences help children practice important skills including thinking, language, motor coordination and understanding emotions. Music, movement & dance are all forms of communication.

13.01.2022 The mud kitchen is a hit! Isabella & Willow have been playing here all morning. It's messy & fun as well as providing a whole variety of different learning opportunities including sensory, imaginative, creative, physical and exploratory play

I am passionate about creating a welcoming, inclusive, fun & educational environment for all children and I believe that the small group, home environment that Family Day Care provides is what sets it apart from anything else. 10.01.2022 This week we are celebrating NAIDOC week! Today we have done some dot paintings using sticks. We looked at examples of some aboriginal paintings and then created our own! The children were saying 'dot, dot, dot' as they painted!

09.01.2022 Fun at Kidstown over the school holidays! It's great getting out into the community :)

09.01.2022 The children loved gathering natural materials and using them to create beautiful artworks! This started as a fine motor experience with cotton buds, the children thought it was funny that we weren't using paintbrushes like we usually do - this started a conversation about what else we could use to paint with! They had lots of fun discovering what patterns each object made :)

09.01.2022 Kahly's Family Day Care currently has a vacancy on Monday & Thursday! Please contact me if you are interested or would like more information :)

06.01.2022 Hello, it’s Kahly here. I just wanted to give those who dont know me a bit of a background on who I am, why I am passionate about working with children and what I’ve been up to over the past few years. I have been working in children’s services for around 7 years. I am currently working part time at a local long day care centre which I began working in 2017. I have really enjoyed my time there, gaining experience, building relationships with children and families and expandin...g my knowledge on a wide range of things from documenting learning, providing experiences, engaging with children and so much more. Before I began working there I worked as a Family Day Care educator (Kahly’s Family Day Care) at home for just over a year, which is why you will see photos on this page dated back to 2016. I went on maternity leave in January 2017 a few weeks before the arrival of my son Madden, who is now two. I have always been passionate about Family Day Care and the unique care that it provides and have decided it is time to go back and do what I love while also being able to raise my own children at home. I also have a four year old daughter Willow who has started kinder this year. We live in a cozy town house in Shepparton along with my husband Josh who is a self employed Carpenter and our puppy Shelby. I love providing engaging, educational, fun experiences for children and believe I have a calm & gentle nature which helps me to form strong, trusting relationships with the children in my care. I will be ready to start at the beginning of March. Please feel free to ask any questions about my service or Family Day Care in general and I will be more than happy to have a chat. Thanks See more

06.01.2022 Madison turned one yesterday, so today we celebrated her birthday! The children were so excited to sing happy birthday & enjoyed some lollies and yummy mud cake! Madison is a beautiful, strong willed little person & I just love watching her learn & grow

05.01.2022 A simple painting experience was a nice way to fill in the afternoon yesterday! I’m not a fan of painting/craft that requires an ‘end result’ which can be tricky as some parents like having structured pictures to take home but I love watching the children’s imagination flow as they paint on a blank canvas with no expectations of what it should look like, not to mention the learning that takes place such as fine motor development, colour recognition, creativity, sensory development, sharing, using language to describe and a sense of pride in what they have created!

01.01.2022 Isabella cooking up a storm in the play kitchen! A home corner/area encourages role play, imagination, language skills and so much more! She was saying 'beep beep' as she pressed the buttons on the microwave :)

01.01.2022 More NAIDOC week fun

01.01.2022 Outdoor play! Getting outside in the sunshine and fresh air, getting messy, exploring and playing at the park are just some of the ways the children are connected with and contribute to their world (EYLF Outcome 2)
