25.01.2022 TAPIOCA WATER BEADS So hidden in ‘that’ corner was a lonely packet of tapioca. Yep I am also somewhat intrigued as why it was there. I can vaguely remember a recipe calling for tapioca to make dessert. Needless to say it had sat there unloved for quite some time. For those of you wondering 'what the hell is tapioca?' Its a starch that is from the cassava (or yucca!) root and when little pearls made from tapioca are cooked they turn into sticky, chewy translucent balls. T...he things you might have seen in pudding type desserts or bubble tea! Also fantastic EDIBLE alternative to water beads, which are defiantly awesome but certainly not edible or suitable to toddlers and babies who like to taste their play. So I cooked them up with some food die and they were a hit!! I am not really a huge fan of using food for play just because, when using food I tend to pick things that I can reuse. Think rainbow rice, pasta or dried beans. BUT when you are looking in those scary dark back corners of your pantry sensory play gold might be hiding there! Any number stale food can be an awesome and usually taste safe sensory play activity. So if you have a sneaky packet of tapioca hiding in your pantry or you just want to grab a packet in your next shop (its pretty cheap) this was lots of fun. It's like a cross between slime and water beads, its super sticky, looks like caviar and surprisingly holds it shape pretty well. And taste safe, we all had a try...its super chewy!! She is busy keeping everything running smoothly, setting up and packing up, helping with the activities or even greeting you on your way into the studio. Holly has recently completed her studies majoring in Italian and is studying to be a teacher has been working in education support and does lots of babysitt...ing. She also loves being around little kids! When she's not busy cleaning up after us she loves to go to the gym, eat nice food and spend time with her friends and family . 20.01.2022 Shes a CLIMBER!! And she is sooo proud of herself. This little miss has been climbing the furniture since before she could walk and it’s been a bit of a shock as her big bro was certainly more of a cautious bubba. But don’t you worry he has been making up for that in recent times. Our couch has seen its fair share of jungle gym action in its time! So it’s freezing cold and raining, add in the challenges of closed playgrounds due to lockdowns and I’m sure I’m not ...the only one with kids climbing the walls, or furniture at the moment. We love our pickler triangles and ramps. 18.01.2022 We made a ball run! Or should I say I made a ball run with a very serious supervisor. This little set up was actually quite a challenge but such an awesome learning activity...for both of us. There is so much in getting the ball to roll and have everything set up so that it makes it to the end. It definitely highlighted the need for a good set of blocks. We ran short on big blocks to help keep everything stable but we got there in the end. We made this one with our ra...inbow, semi circle building platforms and our regular blocks. You could also use books or other household items (chopping boards ) and some blocks. This is certainly not going to be our last ball run, I think Jude is hooked! 13.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to the awesome dad's grandfather's and great grandfathers in our family. How lucky we are to have so many special people in our lives . I love that our kinder asks the children to draw us for mothers and fathers day. This is Jude's fathers day picture including all of the important people, Dad, Jude, Willa and Zara our dog . They also gave them a sunflower seed to grow together . So lovely, now let's hope it grows . I have the mothers day and ...fathers day art hanging together on the fridge and it's amazing to see how Jude's drawing has progressed since May. Yep that's me with the mono brow (fitting given the stage of lockdown we were in on mothers day ) and quite a lot of arms and legs! He even got the paper the right way up this time! Communication is more than just speech and it something that I am very passionate about. This picture is from a recent project that I was involved in with our local council. 10.01.2022 The wait is finally over! We have waited somewhat impatiently for these to arrive . The wooden toy co. road and car sets were much anticipated in our household and they are here ! We set this up this morning and like all of their products the quality of these is amazing ! The roads go together easily, the kids could put them together without help and they stay together ! The cars are the perfect size for little hands and got the tick of approval from both kids very ...quickly. Beep beep! They work well with our arches, rainbow, semi circle building platforms and nins. I have lived watching them come and go today. The nins have enjoyed many rides in the cars to the park with their dogs and to grab a hot dog from the food truck ! These are in our store now, ready for delivery! I dropped these off to Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District this morning who joined up with Get Mooving Greater Shepparton and invited me to provide some fun school holidays play activities families who may otherwise be looking for fun things to keep the kids busy while not a...t school and kinder. If it's not lockdown here in Victoria or rainy, cold winters days elsewhere I know I have been looking to refresh some of our play opportunities lately! Setting up sensory play like this is always a great idea in theory but somehow never really happens. Well guess what? This little set up is what my Sensory Play Online program participants got into today during our first PLAY grp online LIVE session this morning.... And it was totally as fun as it looks! We have been getting lots of enquiry about availability so here is this weeks update . We only have one fully booked class currently: Discoverers at 9.30 Thursday. ... However we have a number of classes with only 2 or 3 spots left, these are Explorer's (2-3.5 years) classes. So if you are in that age group and wanting to join us this week I suggest booking early to get your desired time . Availability is always visible on the booking system on the website so head to the website or use the book now button on our page to secure your spot . You can book reoccurring appointments to so you don't have the remember to get your spot each week . And if you are booking more than one kiddo we have a sibling discount .
