22.01.2022 Last week the girls were excited to visit the home of a new educator within our Whittlesea Coordination Unit. Mernda Family Day Care is only 10 minutes from us and we look forward to the Playground Playdates and Bush Play Times with our new friends next year! If you are looking for childcare next year, there are still spots available (but filling up fast) with Mernda Family Day Care and you can find her on the Care For Kids website.

18.01.2022 The simple things ... chalk for your outdoor adventures! We had an interesting discovery while at the local playground... chalk is great for designing cubby houses! Why not pack some with you when planning your travels over the holidays... you can draw one up in a jiffy. Jemima was so excited by her windows, dinning table with four chairs around it, even a stove and oven where we baked a rock cake. She even picked out to say "Welcome" on her welcome mat.... And why stop at a house.... you could make a boat, a bus, a car or an airplane! Have fun getting creative over the holidays!

07.01.2022 The simple things... melting ice cubes on a hot day. It was quite hot on this day and the girls enjoyed practicing their colour theory knowledge while watching colourful ice melt. They later decided to add bubbles to their work. This allowed them to practice their hand-eye coordination, engage in some trouble shooting while figuring out how to make more bubbles, and practiced their observation skills as they watched them show their rainbow colours in the sun and merge togethe...r, they also experimented with different ways of catching them...spoons, hands, towels... what would happen if...? ... and it all started with some ice cubes and water. What will your little genius discover in their ice play?

06.01.2022 It's a wrap! Yesterday was our last day of Family Day Care and it was party central all day! For the past few weeks the children have helped to plan every aspect of the day. They finished off the preparations yesterday - setting up the room, wrapping and labeling presents that they have worked on for their parents, putting finishing touches on the food and rehearsing for the Christmas show.... Once all the "administrative" tasks were complete with lots of hands-on learning along the way, it was super fun time! Games galore and a Christmas movie just before parents arrived for the final portion of the program. The children of course said the day ended too soon... and just like that, looks like we have started another Christmas tradition. I wonder what next year's Christmas party day would look like...
