23.01.2022 Help!! I need hundreds of plastic bottle lids for an event in a couple of weeks. If anyone has some waiting to be recycled could you let me know and I can collect?

23.01.2022 I don't have a good enough camera or enough patience to get a decent photo, so you'll probably just have to use your imagination a bit. Cute little tiny birds, finches or wrens or something? having an absolute ball this morning in the bottlebrush.

23.01.2022 Sustainability and finding a solution to climate change is very close to my heart. So my wall has been pretty much dedicated to promoting the upcoming Sustainability Picnic, with what I think is the biggest, most interesting, and challenging speakers we have every had. If you are looing for something fun to do next Sunday, tickets can be booked here https://events.humanitix.com/the-sustainability-picnic And if you are interested in volunteering, read on!! Our Sustainabili...ty Picnic is almost here - Sunday 14th March 10.30 - 4 @ Uraidla Show Grounds. We have a great program of speakers, music and Sustainable Conversations so you can come along and listen, eat, talk and play with us. We'll have activities for the kids, the bar will be open and in addition to your own picnic you might snare a piping hot pizza. We'd love to know: Can you help us with creating a fabulous community day? We need volunteers to help on the gate, pizza oven, bar and information desk. Shifts are only 1.5 hours and entry is free for volunteers! Bring your friends and family to help us as well. email [email protected] to let us know if you can help. Are you first aid trained or a trained Covid Marshall? We are creating lists so we know who can be called on during the day. We are looking for volunteers to wear the Covid Marshall jacket for an hour during the day and generally keep an eye on things. (if you're interested a free, online, 30 minute course is available at SA Gov Covid Marshall training) And most of all we need you to promote our social media posts. Sustainability Picnic Facebook - we want to spread the word into our community that we are looking forward to seeing them. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the day! 21.01.2022 While Adelaide City is shrouded in fog......

18.01.2022 No time for in ground vegies this year so my wicking beds have been feeding us :) Tomatoes, eggplants, basil, silverbeet, cucumbers, zucchinis, squash, capsicum, chillies, celery, lettuce and lots more herbs. So easy.

18.01.2022 Thanks Jeffries and Susan Young for sharing this post. It's so nice to remember that even though it is wet and miserable and the garden is a mud pit that there are good things happening underground :)

17.01.2022 Today looks like being the last of a string of beautiful weather here at Basket Range. Rain is coming back for the next week or so. Although July was unusually dry, it's been one of those winters where it's just wet and cold and nothing grows. But with longer days and a bit of sunshine that's all changing and it's time to start planning our summer veggie patch. After a couple of years giving the patch a bit of a rest we'll be back this summer with plenty of fresh tasty healt...hy veggies, home delivered. And teaming up with Basket Range Baker we'll be delivering tasty fresh sourdough bread and other goodies from the Baker's oven. And of course, our delicious grass fed lamb. Can't wait.

16.01.2022 Flower spam . Finally success with peonies.

14.01.2022 Anyone wanting winter veg seedlings? We've got cabbage, broccoli, red butter lettuce and green Oak lettuce ready to go. Grown in pyramid seedling trays so very strong. $8 for 10... $28 for 10 of each variety (40 seedlings) Local delivery by Nick $1.50 per km, min $5.

14.01.2022 Such a stunning day for planting winter veg before this weekend's rain :) Lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, broad beans, endive, leeks, brussel sprouts, turnips, peas, Asian greens, spinach, silverbeet and room for lots more.... #phillovesstraightlines

12.01.2022 I feel so privileged to be able to be part of this project to help with garden recovery after bushfire on Kangaroo Island following the recent terrible fires.

12.01.2022 I'm looking forward to trialling this :)

12.01.2022 Soil at 15c...... Nearly ready to plant tomatoes and summer veg in Basket Range

12.01.2022 It's so nice to be able to harvest home grown, lettuce in winter when there isn't much else growing. Using gyganic and seamungus as well as the occasional dose of Gogo juice from Neutrog. At the moment we've got celery, spinach, young broccoli, cauliflower and broad beans growing. I'm looking forward to spring though to get the vegie patch pumping this year.

10.01.2022 Look what happens when you neglect your vegie patch!!!

10.01.2022 It's delicious and Phil's now baking Sunday as well as Saturday. Order for home delivery or pick up at Dunns at Woodside or Cafe1195 at Uraidla :)

09.01.2022 A little before and after. Soil is starting to warm up. Planting can start soon.

09.01.2022 For everyone who is planning on planting winter veg this year Wicking Beds are definitely a winner if you don't have lots of space and water (like we do).

08.01.2022 A big shout out to the Uraidla Guerilla Gardeners and a couple of my neighbours who came and blitzed my veggie patch a couple of times this summer. Without them everything would have been covered in weeds. Now.... If anyone wants to come pick yourself tomatoes, basil, cucumbers, zucchini, beans..... Just let me know!

05.01.2022 I'm on kangaroo island this week helping with a bushfire recovery project ReGrowth Garden Recovery creating a rapid build, portable, fully enclosed community garden organised by Sophie Thomson. We've got a full complement of volunteers including Matthew from Jeffries @teamrubicon HeartsandHands and many many KI locals including some who have lost everything they own. Watching loader drivers @neutrog for a year made me the most qualified tractor driver! Eek.... It's hot, it's dusty, it's windy and I'm dirtier than I've been for several years and even so it's awesome to be working with such resilient, generous people. @quincecatering your brownies and cake has been demolished!!

05.01.2022 A little bit of positive news. The Foodprint Experience is one of the most amazing little cafe's I have seen with ethics and sustainability being front and centre of their operations. If/when you get a chance go and have a great coffee and delicious meal and know that you are supporting a business that supports us all :)

03.01.2022 I was asked this week if it's worth planting old seeds.... Definitely is worth a try especially as new seeds are hard to find.... Looks like we're going to be eating brussel sprouts and turnips this season! . There is a reason why those seeds got to be five years old.

02.01.2022 There's been lots of activity here over the past few months as Phil (with help from amazing carpenter Mark Debenham and electrician extraordinaire Dave Spry) has converted part of our shearing shed into a bakery and focussed obsessively over his sourdough. With hundreds of test loaves as he sorted out the big ovens it's been a bit tense - who would have thought Phil was a perfectionist? The wait was definitely worth it and he is open for orders for Sourdough delivered to your home or picked up from Studio 1195 at Uraidla. :) To order message @BasketRangeBaker Oh, and he does bake other sourdough products, but isn't willing to share them until they are perfect....

01.01.2022 If you are a woman or girl, have a wife, daughter, girlfriend, niece or female friends please consider signing this petition. It is incredibly important for all girls in poverty to have access to sanitary products.
