23.01.2022 Play Dough With swollen feet that scream, yes there is less than two weeks before baby arrives, I was looking for an activity that involved sitting but could still really capture Miss 3s attention. Thank goodness for homemade play dough! Within a few minutes, I had a collection of textured wooden play dough tools and loose bits and pieces on the table. This kept us busy for close to an hour before school pick up ... Both Miss 3 and Miss 6 have loved borrowing this book from our local library. It has been read multiple times per day to the point where Miss 3 can recite the story by heart With fun little instructions such as tap the tree, run the tree and blow the leaves away, the story is interactive and engaging.... As soon as we start mixing the colours in, I am quickly reminded how amazing the smooth warm dough feels and the wave of childhood memories comes flooding in This morning we spilt one batch, six ways and Miss 3 chose her colours. ... I supplied her with a variety of loose offs and ends and she asked to have her toy dinosaurs join in. There was no other brief or restrictions on her play (other than PLEASE dont mix the colours ). She started off with a dinosaur mud bath before her play evolved to a birthday party with some animal friends Miss 3 pulled off the small world table we had set up near by. 04.01.2022 Weighing Coloured Spaghetti Miss 3s activity request revolved around some dried rainbow spaghetti. Teamed up with a set of scales and a variety of bowls, we worked at reading digital numbers while measuring 10g of pasta into each of the bowls. A focus was created on showing Miss 3 that while 10g May almost fill a small bowl, it would barely cover the bottom of a larger bowl.... 03.01.2022 Watercolour Rainbow Fish We love The Rainbow Fish however it somehow made its way onto the back burner. Thankfully, a lesson in Playing Preschool (play based toddler curriculum) has us revisiting this amazing book in one of the listed activities Its amazing how 6 months can have on comprehension! Miss 3 was really empathised with the characters compared to when we last read the book. I cant even say how may times we have read The Rainbow Fish, in the last few d...ays! She loves it! Anyways, we made our own rainbow fish! 03.01.2022 Elastic Bands on Cans We had twenty minutes to spare before school pick up and Miss 3 was bouncing off the walls, while my energy levels were nil A walk to the pantry and then to the stationary cupboard and boom- crisis averted! ... Miss 3 actually moaned and rolled her eyes when she saw me present her with the little bowl of elastic bands and the can - hello threenager! When I asked her if she could stretch the bands over the can, straight away her hands got busy working out how to manipulate the elastic band around the can. Within minutes she had them all lined up before taking them off so I could have a turn. Did I get to finish my turn? Nope! Apparently she knew how to do it better! As simple as it was- this activity was a hit! 01.01.2022 Apple Rolling Rolling apples was so much fun! We started off measuring our cardboard ramps from a baseline to determine which was the shortest, medium and longest box.
