19.01.2022 Reading books helps a child develop skills such as language, imagination, letter and sound recognition, knowledge of the world around them and much more. Could you read a book with your child each day?

17.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun... and in the morning We will remember them. LEST WE FORGET It was lovely to see some of our families past and present attend our local dawn service with our educators and together lay the wreaths the children of Play'n'Around Illawong had made.

17.01.2022 BOOK WEEK 24th-28th August 2020 During this week we engaged in a wide variety of experiences celebrating the children's favourite books as well as learning about authors, illustrators and features of books such as the cover and blurb.

14.01.2022 This week our Adventurer and Explorer groups focused on Road Safety. We had conversations about the safest way to cross the road before venturing to zebra crossing to practice. It was wonderful to hear the children remind each other of the rules before crossing!

13.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK 2020 Each day Educators and children acknowledge the Dharawal people as the traditional custodians of the land where we play and learn through saying our Acknowledgement of Country and engaging in conversations to broaden our knowledge of both traditional and contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and views. During NAIDOC Week we further explored these concepts through books and stories, art experiences, group discussions and videos and we were able to explore this year's theme, "Always Was, Always Will Be" by examining the artwork on the poster by Tyrown Waigana.

12.01.2022 Today we observed a minute silence in rememberance of those who served our wonderful country. Lest We Forget

10.01.2022 Spring has sprung! What a wonderful time of year to harvest our winter plants, plant new seedlings and explore our plants up close.

09.01.2022 "Learn as much as you can about the culture and participate." - Aunty Deanna. Each year, NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aborigi...nal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, who are part of some of the oldest continuing cultures on the planet. #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #NAIDOC2020 See more

05.01.2022 Face Painting Fun! The children have been exploring face painting through imaginative play, so we pulled out the face paints and did it for real! The children loved painting each others faces and showed great care as the created their designs. Even the Educators had a turn!

02.01.2022 N A T U R E P L A Y W E E K What wonderful adventures we had this week exploring nature through play! A key focus was to encourage the children to look around them and see the beauty of our environment, and so our Nature Walks began! Outside the centre the children explored their natural surroundings, had a picnic amongst the trees and walked to the local fields, all without the need for toys or technology!

01.01.2022 Learning about our food through hands on experiences where we can use our senses to explore and experiment! Using real kitchen tools encourages risky play and helps us develop confidence.
