11.02.2022 Now this is what we call a transformation with serious play value! From an unused dark corner to a vibrant, small but jam-packed kindy play space at Holy Rosary Catholic School. 26.01.2022 Absolutely delighted to announce that the Cradle Mountain Visitors Centre was recently recognised in the national AILA awards under the Tourism category with @cumulus_studio! A big thanks to everyone who were involved in making this project a NATIONAL AWARD WINNER The jury said: The Cradle Mountain Visitors Centre provides an outstanding visitor arrival experience to one of Tasmania’s most valued natural wilderness destinations, and an impressive gateway to the state’s Wilderness World Heritage Area. The project interprets the narrative of the site through a bold landscape design and sensitive plantings of slow-growing alpine vegetation. []

25.01.2022 Repost of the @the_burrows_swansea cute little spot! Miriam Shevland co-owner of @playstreet_studio and our good friend, used her creative landscaping architect skills in designing three circular paved nodes for our front garden at The Burrows. Using the 160 year old stone we removed from the living room wall, the pavers work sympathetically with the original stone walls throughout our {rugged} coastal landscape. Perfect spot for a deck chair, cuppa tea and a good book!

03.01.2022 Consulting little ones is one of the most important (and rewarding) parts of the early stages of play design. Here at Playstreet we highlight the importance to children of their right to have a say in how spaces they use are designed, citing them the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 12: "Children have the right to say what they think should happen when adults are making decisions that affect them and to have their opinions taken into account." We...ve had some wonderful examples where work done with children during consultation can be directly seen in the final build. During the consultation at the Friends Kindy, there was a request for shiny happy things. This resulted in a creek bed with bling! The children have since named this the shiny river and created a giant collage to represent it. - #playdesign #playground #workingwithkids @child_comm_tas @TheFriendsSchoolHobart @botanicresourceslandscaping @ Hobart, Tasmania See more

28.12.2021 This morning Miri gave a presentation (online) at the Alaska Design Forum on ‘The Role of Play’. Amongst other topics, she spoke of Playstreet’s process of designing play spaces, the importance of meaningful consultation from the very outset of projects and the integration of that consultation process into detailed design elements. Some of the feedback from listeners were It’s all in the details. How active listening translates to actionable integration through the design p...rocess and the process they’ve developed has a lovely thoroughness, and flexibility to show kids that they are in the final design. Thank you to those who listened in and thanks to @alaskadesignforum for inviting Miriam to speak, it was a fantastic opportunity! - #play #alaskadesignforum #lecture
