24.01.2022 COVID-19 continues to present challenges for our practitioners working with children and families in an increasingly uncertain environment. We share the infographic below as a potential resource for practitioners to provide to families in this difficult time. PTPA Board sends our best wishes to all our members during this tough time, we know that our practitioners are continuing to work hard to support children and families at this time.
22.01.2022 Today is National Sorry Day. National Sorry Day, or the National Day of Healing, is an annual event that has been held in Australia on 26 May since 1998, to remember and commemorate the mistreatment of the country's Indigenous peoples, as part of an ongoing process of reconciliation between the Indigenous peoples and the settler population. During the 20th century, Australian government policies caused children to be separated from their families, with the intention of assim...ilating them into White Australian culture. This resulted in what became known as the "Stolen Generations", with the effects of these traumatic removals being felt by succeeding generations even today. Our members work with many indigenous children, families and colleagues and want to acknowledge this day and National Reconciliation Week which starts today. We will share some pics in the coming days of what our Board members have been up to in recognising this important cause. #inthistogether2020 #playtherapy #nationalsorryday2020

17.01.2022 PTPA wishes to express our strong commitment and support the fight for racial equality in our communities. PTPA recently submitted our Reconciliation Action Plan to Reconciliation Australia, because our Board passionately believes in working with our members and local communities to begin the process of healing and equality for our Indigenous people. Board member Silvia Jones Terare shared this message on behalf of the Board to all our members and followers during Reconcilia...tion week: Reconciliation week 2020 and the theme 'in this together' marks 20 years of the bridge walks across the nation of people of Australia from all walks of life coming together and fighting together to reconcile and recognise the injustices and how the past policies have negatively affected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture. It recognises how many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people have contributed to this country for 1000's of years. We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians and learn the value in the land we walk on including the stories, language, dances, artwork that came from our ancestors up until the current day. We as a nation are in this together.
