24.01.2022 TEACH CHILDREN THE ART OF GRATITUDE Learning how to find gratitude in all facets of life is a struggle for most! So how can we teach this to our little humans? Imagine educating children on gratitude in the early years, and observing how this impacts on how humans interact with each other in the future?! OR equally important, developing the skills to identify gratitude in all challenges to build resilience!... It can be as simple as asking your child to express 10 things they are grateful for before going to bed each night! #gratitude #beingmindful #reflection See more

19.01.2022 Thanks @couples.counseling.for.parents so important to look within, and if you are feeling stressed or anxious about something, then your child is feeling that too!! Could help find a solution for you and your child even sooner!! Educators can also benefit from this daily check in before they enter the centre. 13.01.2022 QUICK HACKS TO OVERCOME TANTRUMS Here are some quick tips for a child experiencing a tantrum. Save for later!! - Hold space for your child, verbalise to them that it’s ok to feel angry, sad, hurt etc ... - How to pull them out of the tantrum? Use generalised questions to break the cycle, Remember you mentioned you wanted to build a tower today? What materials shall we use? What will it look like? Help them out of survival - When they are out of the tantrum, ask what they need. It may be as simple as a hug or hand holding, watch for non-verbal signs too!! - Once you see the body language shift, go in and reconnect with the child. Now find out what the emotion was all about - Ask them to locate where they feel the emotion, ask them what the emotion represents, does the emotion have a colour. Eg. If a child feels the rage in their legs/feet, this would explain the kicking! We’re giving the child the tools to identify exactly what the emotion is, then we as the parent/educator can get to the root cause - Ultimately know your child, identify the triggers before the melt down happens #tantrum #emotionaldevelopment #emotionalregulation See more

10.01.2022 WONDER We often watch children playing or discovering an object, and finding multiple uses for it, expanding their imaginations. Children have the gift of WONDER, they see beauty in objects that we see as simple everyday things. Adults have lost this childlike ability, and that’s ok. It is not our role to be children anymore, it is our role to stand back and allow children to discover the wonder in their natural and constructed worlds! Don’t interfere, they are ca...pable wonder makers, just observe their imagination unfold. So during this time of isolation, don’t feel the need to purchase endless LEGO sets, or craft. Give your children the permission and freedom to explore and discover, your backyard or even the kitchen!!! Place you child in front of your pots and pans cupboard and let them invent, explore and create! #wonder #discover #explore See more
