25.01.2022 WE THANK OUR CAREGIVERS // This Friday, August 7, we celebrate Aged Care Employee Day - an initiative of Leading Age Services Australia. It’s a celebratory event that we truly embrace as a business, simply because our five Palm Lake Care aged caring communities would be nothing without the caregivers we painstakingly select to provide all the various types of care and assistance that our residents require. It is a massive team effort to bring the level of care we do to our ve...ry grateful residents and families, and is thanks to everyone in our team - from the nurses and PCAs on our frontline, to our kitchen and admin staff, those in our laundries, the cleaners, maintenance officers and management teams that keep the wheels turning in the background. Like links in a chain, everyone plays a vital role. And then we also have all those wonderful volunteers who give up their time to help make our residents’ lives even brighter. While these people may not be official ‘employees’, they are another important element of this well-oiled machine. The theme of Aged Care Employee Day, #ThanksforCaring, recognises each and every team member involved in caring for the 1.3 million older Australians receiving home care or residential care services. Just tuned to our Facebook page this week as we celebrate just some of the caregivers who make Palm Lake Care the coveted choice. #ACED2020

25.01.2022 Let us introduce you to Fern Markwell. Fern is a vital link in the care-giving chain at Palm Lake Care Bethania where she heads up laundry services a role she "adores"! Don’t forget, it’s Aged Care Employee Day this Friday #ThanksforCaring #ACED2020 Click here to read more about Fern's role at Palm Lake Care: https://palmlakecare.com.au/team/fern-markwell/

24.01.2022 Meet Christie Webb, a clinical nurse at Palm Lake Care Bargara. Christie lives and breathes her job and does it well. My favourite part is just seeing a resident smile, she says. Big thanks to the Bundaberg NewsMail newspaper and Bundaberg Now for featuring Christie’s story in the lead up to Friday’s Aged Care Employee Day. #ThanksforCaring #ACED2020 Click below to read Christie's story...

22.01.2022 FLOWER POWER // Check out this floral wonder that brightened Palm Lake Care Bethania recently. Completed by some very crafty residents during their regular craft classes, it was an ode to the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. Lifestyle Team coordinator Amber is as crafty and creative as they come which is a bonus for Amber's residents. Amber says: "Puzzles, word games, board games, adult colouring and crafting are all great mindfulness activities that enable us to escape from pain and worry as well as giving us joy and a great sense of accomplishment when we can sit back and look at the amazing work that has been completed."

18.01.2022 DIGITAL NEIGHBOURS // If there's been one silver lining to come out of COVID, it's that we have been embracing technology even more than usual. As well as regularly video calling loved ones, our residents across different Palm Lake Care communities have even started connecting regularly online for a number of fun virtual activities including talent shows and more!

16.01.2022 GOOD SPORTS // Quoits is definitely a game befitting our stunning Hamptons-style waterfront community at Beachmere. That sunny deck, overlooking Moreton Bay, is proving to be one popular meeting point for our new residents!

16.01.2022 You would probably guess that cooking in the kitchens of Canberra’s Parliament House would differ to Brisbane’s best seafood restaurant. Or, that serving 7000 Department of Defence personnel would be a little different to plating up daily dishes at Palm Lake Care. But Palm Lake Care Deception Bay chef Wayne Pollard will be the first to tell you that, no matter where you cook, the basic ingredients are always the same. In the lead-up to Leading Age Services Australia's Aged Care Employee Day on Friday, read Wayne’s story here... #ThanksforCaring #ACED2020

15.01.2022 "2020 has been a different and challenging year for all. Knowing that many of us can’t help but focus on the negative things that we are experiencing or feeling, the Lifestyle Team - along with our residents - have built a Gratitude Tree in the lounge area. We are working together, writing down our positive thoughts and making an effort to acknowledge things that make us happy and grateful. It has been lovely to see what the residents share with us. For me, I am grateful for the all the support provided by residents, families and caregivers over this time. The chats that I have had with the residents and caregivers about their commitment to creating a safe home at Palm Lake Care Bethania has made me extremely grateful." - Vanessa Gawith, Service Manager

14.01.2022 GREEN THUMBS // It's been great to see our Palm Lake Care Beachmere residents enjoying the spring sunshine and fresh sea air to lend a hand around our gardens. Our grounds staff are ever-so grateful to have their assistance, and the residents enjoy a feeling of accomplishment. Win, win!

14.01.2022 NINE DECADES YOUNG // We've had a run of 90th birthdays recently here at Palm Lake Care Mt Warren Park. What a great milestone! Even though some of these celebrations were marked during COVID (with restrictions on visitors), we still made sure our birthday girls were thoroughly spoilt. Happy birthday to Dorothy, Wilma and Gisela!

13.01.2022 #thanksforcaring If you are looking for a way to say thanks to a Palm Lake Care caregiver who means a lot to you and your family, don’t forget that our website offers a Thank a Care Worker portal for your messages. Simply head to www.palmlakecare.com.au and click the Thank a Care Worker button in the top right corner of your screen. Our caregivers love receiving these unexpected messages. And they are very deserving of the praise.

12.01.2022 BOYS' CLUB // Members of the Palm Lake Care Mt Warren Park "Men’s Club" have been thriving - they really enjoy their time together, bonding over card games and our ever-popular pool table!

11.01.2022 CONGRATS // Palm Lake Care resident Dulcie Mapleston celebrated her sixth anniversary at our Bethania aged caring community recently which, of course, was cause for celebration and some delicious cake! She's pictured here with Service Manager Vanessa and Lifestyle team leader Amber.

10.01.2022 FLOWER POWER // Craft classes at Palm Lake Care Bethania always produce the goods. Check out this floral wonder that was on display recently. Lifestyle Team Coordinator Amber is quite the creative when it comes to crafty ideas for her residents. As Amber states: "Puzzles, word games, board games, adult colouring and crafting are all great mindfulness activities that enable us all to escape from pain and worry as well as giving us joy and a great sense of accomplishment when we can sit back and look at the amazing work that has been completed." Very true.

09.01.2022 Vanessa Gawith spent more than two decades working in interstate hotel operations before joining Palm Lake Care Bethania at the start of 2018 and, while it might not be obvious from the outset, Vanessa sees many parallels between running hotels and the aged caring community that she now heads. In the lead-up to Aged Care Employee Day tomorrow, read Vanessa’s story by clicking here: https://palmlakecare.com.au/team/vanessa-gawith #ThanksforCaring #ACED2020

09.01.2022 FROM WHERE YOU'D RATHER BE... // Dreaming of a sunny park bench overlooking Moreton Bay, with a relaxed and luxurious Hamptons-esque lifestyle to boot? That's exactly what the lucky residents of Palm Lake Care Beachmere enjoy daily...

09.01.2022 ZOOM ZOOM! // Check out Palm Lake Care Bargara's most dedicated cardio drummers who were still able to get in their practice sessions by video conference with their instructor, Cynthia. Technology has really been a blessing for us this year!

08.01.2022 HAPPY AGED CARE EMPLOYEE DAY! // We hope you’ve enjoyed meeting just some of our caregivers this week, who work across a wide variety of job types. Among them, Palm Lake Care is lucky to have many dedicated PCAs assisting our residents on the frontline, on a daily basis. At Palm Lake Care Bethania, Samantha Lane is one of those people. A mother of four (pictured on the far right), Sam will be the first to tell you that she loves helping others especially the elderly and that care just might be her middle name. #ThanksforCaring, Sam. Read more about Sam here (https://palmlakecare.com.au/team/samantha-lane/) and make sure you look back on this week's Facebook posts to meet more of our wonderful caregivers #ACED2020

07.01.2022 The Sanctuary is a special place for us, at Palm Lake Care Beachmere. The first of its kind in any Palm Lake Care community, it’s a private space designed to help families, caregivers and residents take a quiet minute away from any hustle and bustle. A place to collect thoughts. To regroup. This sitting room features an exquisite bespoke stained glass window handmade by a local artisan, and the peace gongs that flank this light-filled art piece will be engraved with the names of residents who will pass through Palm Lake Care Beachmere on their life’s journey. For us it’s all about the little details..

05.01.2022 SAGE ADVICE // Our Palm Lake Care Bargara residents had a whale of a time recently, discussing and providing advice to the younger generations on life and love! With so many centuries of life experience between them, this group's opinions are noteworthy. Especially our Peter, who says you should meet a girl at uni who is interesting to talk to... and Greek! What advice would you give the younger generations on life and love?

04.01.2022 To wrap up Leading Age Services Australia's Aged Care Employee Day today, we encourage you to head across to our website and see our special edition August newsletters. 02.01.2022 PICTURE PERFECT // This sure is one stunning location for a Palm Lake Care community, right by the sea at Beachmere. If you can picture yourself or a loved one in these images, make sure to contact our Care Solutions team to find out more. You can freecall them on 1800 24 66 77.

02.01.2022 There’s a certain something that’s bloomin’ great about Palm Lake Care Deception Bay’s clinical manager Calley Ainscough. As a 14 year old, Calley started her life’s path on a career in floristry. But she’s ended up where she was meant to be. On the eve of Aged Care Employee Day, click the link below to read more about Calley. #ThanksforCaring #ACED2020

02.01.2022 Wrapping up our walk through Palm Lake Care Beachmere this week, we land right where every resident and visitor of our aged caring community does, too - by the water, overlooking Moreton Bay. This view is ever-changing and inspiring. The sunshine here is invigorating. The laughs and wonderment of the visiting children who frolic in our foreshore garden is captivating and uplifting. Our residents are already thriving in their seaside home. If you know someone who’d benefit from a seachange like this, our Care Solutions team can answer your questions on 1800 246 677. We look forward to welcoming you home.

01.01.2022 SAGE ADVICE // A word or two from the wise... We asked our Palm Lake Care Bargara residents for their opinions and advice on life and love, and we were very interested to hear their thoughts. With their collective centuries of life experience, their advice is absolute gold - especially that of Peter, who says you should meet an "attractive girl" at university who is "interesting to talk to" and preferably Greek! What type of advice would you seek from our wise and worldly residents?
