24.01.2022 Congratulations to the 14 incredible public speakers from Years 7-11 who participated in the second COVID Classic Public Speaking Development Festival! Despite training face-to-face, at the last minute the event was held via Zoom. The adaptability of everyone involved is to be commended, not even a global pandemic can stop our public speakers from improving



24.01.2022 SENIOR SCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL: Congratulations to all students in Years 7-12 who showed great spirit, fitness and fight at the 2021 Senior Athletics Carnival! The weather was perfect and the music was flowing, not to mention Year 12 making everyone chuckle with their choice of House coloured attire. Pickard was crowned Champion House! 24.01.2022 SWIMMING CARNIVAL: Year 2 excitedly cheered each other on at their Swimming Carnival last term, showcasing their amazing skills gained from the Intensive Swimming program. Everyone participated in 25m across all strokes, other swimmers shone with their ability to swim 50m and some super fish tackled the Individual Medley Well done everyone!

Students discussed the life and work of Felicia Hemans whose early juvenile poems are the focus of this years project The Juvenilia Project is a co-curricular club offered to PLC Sydney students in Years 1011 who are highly proficient in English.

The Virtual Choir Project is PLC Sydney's creative response to the COVID-19 restrictions on group singi...ng. We are so proud of the choristers who have demonstrated their passion, resilience and commitment in preparing and recording their individual videos. This virtual concert will feature 123 student videos mixed to produce performances from all our six choirs. This broadcast will be launched on Wednesday 18 November and proudly supports the wonderful work of International Justice Mission Australia. All proceeds raised in the viewing of this event will contribute to the organisation's mission to rescue and restore survivors of slavery, bring criminals to justice and transform public justice systems. And congratulations to the whole Year 12 Drama class who have done so well #plcsydney HSC Drama usually has three areas that are nominated for OnSTAGE: individual performances, group performances and submitted works. There were no group performances this year due to COVID-19. Only the nominations for the individual performances have been reported thus far.

14.01.2022 FUNDRAISER: Last Friday was the annual PLC Sydney Trivia Night! Each year this event raises much-needed funds for The Ba Vi Centre for people with disabilities in Vietnam and the two preschools in Timor Leste. There were over 250 members of our community at this fabulous event hosted by the highly entertaining Ms Mella and Ms Osborn. Together we raised approx $30 000! A big thank you to all those that attended to support this worthy cause

13.01.2022 HSC TEXTILES & DESIGN: Congratulations to Yianna who has been selected for the SHAPE 2021 exhibition at the Power House Museum for her stunning evening apparel gown consisting of a strapless corset, straight skirt and traditionally smocked cape. Inspiration has been drawn from 1940s Haute Couture, specifically its figure-hugging, asymmetrical silhouettes and luxurious fabrics. Incredible work Yianna!

As part of National Careers Week Australia, Zoe (2015) spoke with Year 10 and Junior School students about her pathway into construction and what her role involves. In line with the PLC Sydney Futures theme for Careers Week, she also focused on the skills and strengths that help her in her role. Students had the chance to ask lots of questions and get a good feel for what a career in construction really means

08.01.2022 Thank you to our Animal Programs team for allowing our Year 2 students to explore the amazing invertebrates during their Visual Arts lessons! Our budding artists created a series of sketches including as much detail as possible, including pattern, texture and tone in the final pieces. Students will now go on to create a number of artworks inspired by their findings, exploring mediums such as watercolour paint, soft pastel and air drying clay to create an array of invertebrate inspired art pieces.

06.01.2022 SATURDAY SPORT: Term 3 saw quite a change for IGSSA and IPSHA Saturday Sport with the introduction of Zones, PLC Sydney being part of the Central Zone. Coach Sarah and Coach Colin were instrumental in delivering both the Netball and Hockey draws to ensure a successful continuation of the IGSSA competition Our AFL girls worked on their skills at training and we are thankful our Touch teams could continue on with a mini-competition within our new Central Zone. The biggest winner of all was that sport kept going for the benefits of girls playing sport are plentiful #plcsydney

The PLC Sydney Ex-Students’ Union (ESU) has come up with a lovely idea to connect some of their older members with students in Junior School.
