23.01.2022 Its Reconciliation Week, which is an important event on the Australian calendar. We at Plenty Valley would like to honour God as sovereign over all earth, and to acknowledge that historically people have been given custodianship of certain land. Accordingly we pay due respect to the original custodians of the land that Plenty Valley rests on, the Wurundjeri Willum people. We acknowledge the vital contributions that Indigenous peoples of Australia have made and still make to the nation we share. We have proudly flown the Australian, Indigenous and Victorian flags this week at school.

23.01.2022 Have you heard of the Arrowsmith Program? It's been running for four years at Plenty Valley and for over 30 years in Canada, helping students with learning difficulties. Find out more at https://www.pvcc.vic.edu.au/about/the-arrowsmith-program

23.01.2022 Stuart Foy, Class of 2013, walks our Year 6s and Year 12s into their graduation each year and we are so thankful that he gives up his time to make these events really special.

23.01.2022 A celebration of colour and creativity from our Primary students during Term 2 Remote Learning. We can't wait to see what creations come to life in Term 3! A very big "Thank You!" to our wonderful Primary Art Teacher, Mrs Kelly.

23.01.2022 Its a celebration of the Arts as we wind up Term 3 - our students have produced a fabulous magazine; students have had their work displayed in Docklands at the ISV annual art exhibition; and next week will be our annual Heart of the Valley event. So much talent!

22.01.2022 Watch as our Head of Learning Support, Julia Walker, explains the tremendous benefits of the Arrowsmith Program.

22.01.2022 Schools are staying open for the time being, so we are making ours as safe as possible on every level. We are thankful for a maintenance team dedicated to keeping our spaces as hygienic as possible, to teachers showing kids (without fear) how to best respond to this crisis, to our IT guys and other staff for getting us prepared for online learning if and when we need it. This is community.

21.01.2022 You are invited to our Arrowsmith Information Night, where we will unpack what Arrowsmith at Plenty Valley is about and how it can help children with learning difficulties.

21.01.2022 What do you do with Year 6 students who are itching to come back to school but can't yet? You run a competition to create an animal out of plastic from their kitchen. Teacher Mrs Bezemer said that most students enjoyed it, but some have assumed she has finally lost her marbles... she hasn't denied the claim Have a great weekend, everyone.

21.01.2022 This Tuesday is Twilight Open Night, don't miss it! Find out what makes Plenty Valley such a unique and fantastic community. Register at https://www.pvcc.vic.edu.au/book-a-tour

15.01.2022 Plenty Valley Christian College has partnered with Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) to deliver the Cognizance project. This project invites renowned educational neuroscientist and Harvard graduate, Dr Jared Cooney Horvath to deliver the Cognizance project. The project aims to teach Year 9 students the fundamentals of metacognition and neuroscience and to provide them with the tools to take charge of their own learning. In other words, how to hack their own brain and game the system! As a college, we are so excited to present this program, which engages students, teachers and parents.

15.01.2022 Hear how our evidence based research is showing an improvement in wellbeing for students engaged in the Arrowsmith Program at Plenty Valley.

14.01.2022 Have you got your tickets yet? This brilliant and vibrant musical production is not to be missed! To purchase tickets go to http://bit.ly/2OovRg9

14.01.2022 Mrs Warwicks Year 9 Sustainability class naturally had to do their lessons remotely, so students were asked to choose a project to help the environment where they live and, if possible, try to make life more sustainable for their family during this pandemic. Here are some photos, including mowing a neighbour's nature strip and some serious weeding and planting. Well done, Year 9s.

13.01.2022 As adults, we understand that a lot happens in a week of news! While the world moved on, some of our Year 4 students were moved by the news of the floods in NSW, and wrote cards to students at our fellow CEN schools in the flood-stricken areas. We praise our students for their community-building character, we continue to pray for our friends in NSW as they manage clean-up efforts, and we thank God for keeping them safe.

10.01.2022 While all Victorian families continue to struggle with the juggle of remote learning and working from home, it was encouraging to see one of our gorgeous Preps, Hannah, featured in The Age last week! Hannah's mum, Katie, is referenced, "Ms Maynes is full of praise for Hannahs teachers who have gone "above and beyond", helping Hannah fix an early problem with her pencil grip, for example." And while the article focuses on the mental health of parents and students, Katie and Hannah want to reassure everyone that they are fine! In fact, they are currently getting ready for an afternoon at the playground! https://www.theage.com.au//parents-fret-for-young-children

09.01.2022 It was a privilege for our college captains to lay wreaths at the Doreen RSL Anzac Day Dawn Service today. Captain Inge T proudly wore her great grandfather’s war medals. Lest we forget

08.01.2022 Our school was pretty empty this week as most students learned remotely. But we did have the joy of having Ben and Mike from Real Life Resilience with us, filming an 8 part video series for schools to aid wellbeing during remote learning. These guys know a great deal about adversity, yet they are positive, goal oriented and full of fun. We cant wait to see what they come up with to help others find the same resilience and joy.

08.01.2022 Our very own Dench clan making the paper today. A very happy Mothers Day tomorrow to all those precious Mums doing a fabulous job juggling so many things

04.01.2022 Teachers all around the world need to commended (along with so many other essential workers) for what theyre managing to do throughout this trying time. Our staff had a knock at their door this week and received a small gift, just a little something to acknowledge what a wonderful job theyre doing in morphing their face-to-face teaching into great online lessons. May we all start to see some kind of return to community life soon, but in the meantime, stay safe everyone

04.01.2022 PVCC Alumni, Tara Whalley, at New York Fashion Week 2020. Please follow the link below for the show that can be viewed online tonight. Here is part of Tara's story:... "After High school I applied for a range of different courses, but I fell in love with Textile Design because it combined together a variety of interests. It was a course that focused on creative process, but had product outcomes. It was a path that could take me to homewares, fashion, designer maker, surface design- the opportunities were broad. When I graduated from my 3 year BA, I moved to the Guatemalan Highlands to develop ethical lines of products and work with the war affected Mayan Weavers. My favourite project from this time was my collaboration with Alas The Label, designing an ethical and sustainable footwear collection. It was a brilliant project where I was able to travel to small villages to experiment with traditional techniques and create a range with the women. The collection was naturally dyed with local flora and vegetation, woven on back strap looms, and cobbled by third generation shoe makers by hand. Since moving back to Melbourne I have been freelancing, creating commercial Prints for Australian fashion labels while designing and producing my latest clothing collection Loose Line. I recently had my first stall at Finders Keepers which was a brilliant opportunity, and Frankie Magazine has also featured a collection of mine. At Plenty Valley, a great importance was placed on noticing the needs in the world, and it moulded a lot of my thinking as to how we can make a difference to those in need in new and creative ways. Whatever your natural giftings, they can be used for a positive impact. I remember how invested the teachers were, and how much they were invested in us as individuals. They encouraged us to work hard, and impacted how I felt about my work. I found the learning environment really encouraging. I loved my time at PVCC. Going above and beyond would be how I remember my teachers, I am so grateful for them." We are cheering you on tonight, Tara! https://www.facebook.com/events/328232791562297/
