20.01.2022 FOGGY MORNING.... Sometimes the best photos are captured in less than perfect conditions for photographing. These are a few pics snapped recently on a very foggy morning at Nobby's. My flying instructor used to say "don't go flying just on fine days.... you'll learn more when the condtions are less than ideal". The same applies with photography. Tips: You need to constantly check the front of your lenses for "fogging" when there is moisture in the air. When shooting birds in flight, make sure to use at least 1/500 second or faster to freeze the action (unless you want them deliberately blurred for effect). Notice that slight underexposure can give a shot a more darker, moody feel. (PS As you can see I am fascinated by birds (flight), and the ocean). Next time there's a fog... get snapping :-)

13.01.2022 OVERNIGHT IN SYDNEY...... Had some fun recently spending 24 hrs in Sydney. VIVID was an opportunity to capture some great night shots. You need a good sturdy tripod and a cable shutter release would help as well. If you're overnight somewhere then get up early as well... as the best light is usually early morning and late afternoon. Capturing great images usually requires a bit of effort.... so go for it !

09.01.2022 A Day At The Zoo The Zoo is always a great place to get some interesting photos. The most important piece of equipment you need is a long lens... at least 100mm focal length but preferably longer (300 to 500mm is ideal). This allows you to zoom in close and remove some of the clutter often found in the animals' enclosures. Patience is also required as you will usually have to wait for the animals to move in to the ideal position for the shot.... so allow plenty of time.. and have fun.
