Red = Jason Magyar Green = Clinton Taylor Hats off to everyone for just getting out in the rain for the last two days and Just filling sand bag after sand bag and loading them in peoples cars and utes.... It was raining and they were there. My apologies to who else is in photo as I dont know everyone but these two Gentlemen made a huge difference in sandbag turn around time along with entire crew there. Hats off to you all. Absolutely amazing and I am proud to know them. Talk about community support. FYI Jason also was in Brisbane for the last few months with his wife and young son here alone and bought a emergency flight to be with them and yet still left them to help others. We are here to help! ... Also please be aware that it will soon be time to start thinking about repairs and insurance work to damaged properties . Having recently worked for insurance companies, I am speaking from experience. Watch out for people and companies who come from out of town to make a quick dollar. We saw a lot of doggy workmanship and a large number of jobs requiring rectification work within six months of works completed and these companies and sub contractors had moved on to the next quick dollar jobs. Please use local companies and local contractors who will use the money to keep local people in jobs. Make sure that any quotes that you get state their QBCC number and a seperate line item and dollar figure for QBCC insurance. This is mandatory for works over$3300 in value. This may offer protection for you up to six years after completed works. Please note: not applicable to work carried out by your insurance company as they normally assume this responsibility . But I would ask lots of questions around who they award the job to. Dont be to quick to cash settle. Think through all aspects of the repair. For example what if you discover asbestos, this can instantly add $10 k to the job. These are and can be big issues so just specify that you have your own builders, Plumbers, electricians, plasterers, tilers etc. Your insurance company can directly pay the contractor of your choice. But please remember the local contractors that this has affected and it would be keeping all work and money in Townsville areas.
