21.01.2022 Looking for an exciting new way to challenge your hamstrings? . Try out the Nordic Hamstring Curl . These put a huge eccentric load on the hamstrings! Start by setting up a barbell behind an immovable squat rack. Load up the barbell as a counter balance and put a pad where your legs hook into. From here try to lower yourself as slow as possible, then lightly drop the rest of the way (unless you’re a boss and can lower yourself the whole way ) From the floor give yourse...lf a bit of a boost with your arms and then try to use your hamstrings to curl yourself back up! . Nordics have also been shown to reduce the risk of hamstring strains when sprinting . This is a really hard exercise so don’t push yourself too hard when first learning the movement. You can also put a bench or box in front of you so you don’t have to lower all the way to the floor! . We suggest starting with 2-4 sets of 5-6 reps! . 17.01.2022 SWEETCORN FRITTERS . WHAT YOU NEED 2/3 cup (170g) sweetcorn, canned 2 spring onions, sliced... handful coriander 4 tbsp. (30g) buckwheat flour tsp. paprika 2 tbsp. olive oil 1 tbsp. water 1 tbsp. lime juice . WHAT TO DO Add drained sweetcorn, spring onions, coriander, flour and paprika, 1 tbsp. olive oil, water and lime juice to a food processor. Season with salt and pepper and blend until chunky. . Stir the remaining sweetcorn into the mixture. . Heat the remaining 1 tbsp. of oil in a pan and scoop in the mixture (about 2 spoonful’s per fritter). Cook on medium heat for about 5 mins each side, until golden brown. . Nutrition per fritter: 56 kcal 4g Fats 5g Carbs 1g Protein . 15.01.2022 BAKED SALMON TRAY WITH RICE & TOMATOES . WHAT YOU NEED 400g salmon fillet, skin removed 1 tsp. honey... 2 tbsp. soy sauce 2 tbsp. olive oil 4 slices of lemon + 2 tbsp. of juice 7/8 cup (200g) jasmine rice 1 cup (150g) cherry tomatoes handful basil leaves 4 tbsp. natural yoghurt, 0% fat . Spices: 2 tsp. paprika 1/2 tsp. curry 1 tsp. oregano pinch of chilli flakes . WHAT TO DO Cut the salmon fillet into 4 pieces. Rinse, dry and place in a bowl. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, curry, and oregano. Add honey, soy sauce, 2 tbsp. olive oil and 2 tbsp. of lemon juice, mix everything and cover the salmon. . Preheat oven to 200C. . Cook the rice according to the instructions on the packaging. Drain it, then transfer into a baking dish and spread the rice over the whole surface of the dish. . Place the salmon fillets on top of the rice, add the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves, then sprinkle with chilli flakes. . Top salmon with lemon slices, and drizzle over the remaining marinade and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. . Serve with a dollop of natural yoghurt. . 08.01.2022 PROTEIN ORANGE & YOGHURT PANCAKES . WHAT YOU NEED 2 eggs 8 tbsp. (160g) natural yoghurt... 2 tsp. coconut sugar 2 tsp. orange peel 2 tsp. vanilla extract 8 tbsp. (120g) spelt flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. coconut oil, melted orange slices, to serve . WHAT TO DO Mix the egg, yoghurt, sugar and orange peel. Fold in the flour and baking powder and mix well until smooth. Lastly, add in the melted coconut oil and mix again. . Fry the pancakes on a dry non-stick pan over low-medium heat until golden brown. . Serve with slices of orange and fresh berries . 03.01.2022 We need your help! Since the 1st August, 24 hour gyms in NSW have been unable to operate 24/7 due to the need to have a ‘Covid Marshal’ present at all times of operating. Having a Covid Marshal in our gym for the hours we are currently operating alone has already more than doubled our wage costs. If we were to staff our gym 24 hours a day, 7 days a week we would be broke with this not only affecting us and our staff but also our members who rely on us to keep physically and ...mentally fit and healthy. Despite consistent lobbying as an industry we have been provided with no clear indication of when this restriction will end so we are asking for your help to ensure all 24 hour gyms, their members and their staff do not get forgotten by the NSW Government.
