17.01.2022 To our amazing community, Yesterday, the NSW Department of Health announced new restrictions due to an increase in cases of Coronavirus across NSW. One of these restrictions is that gyms are only permitted to be open when they are staffed. Which unfortunately means that we are unable to trade 24 hours a day.... To minimise any inconvenience to you, we have extended our staffed hours until we are able to return to 24 hour trading. This means, as of August 1st, our temporary opening hours are; 6am to 10pm Monday Thursday 6am to 8pm Friday 8am to 5pm Saturday 10am to 2pm - Sunday This restriction will have a significant impact on our wage costs following what has already been a challenging 4 months for us. We are doing everything we can to manage this situation as best we can and we do appreciate your understanding during this time. To help us get back to normal sooner, please continue to do your part by sticking to our cleaning and hygiene protocols when you are at the gym. These include; Washing your hands or using hand sanitiser before and after you train. Using a towel on all equipment. Wiping down the equipment after use. 03.01.2022 Fats are an essential part of our diet - yet many people still go for the ‘low fat’ and ‘fat free’ options as it is considered ‘healthier’. While having high levels of body fat can be a risk factor for many chronic diseases, dietary fats are an essential component to a healthy diet. There are several types of fats: Saturated Fats: these types of fats should be consumed in moderation. Having a diet too high in this type of fat has been linked to an increased risk of heart di...sease. You can find this fat in: fatty cuts of meat, chicken skin, cream, lard, butter, full fat milk, processed foods and palm oil. Monosaturated Fats: this type of fat lowers your LDL (bad cholesterol) and raises your HDL (good cholesterol). You can find these types of fats in: good quality olive oil (not cooked with), olives, nuts, peanut butter and avocados. Polyunsaturated Fats: these contain essential omega fatty acids (omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9). Omega-3, in particular, protects the body against heart disease by lowering cholesterol and is fantastic for people who suffer from joint pain, arthritis and some skin diseases. You can find these fats in: oily fish (sardines, salmon, mackerel, trout and herring), grape seeds, nuts, seeds and eggs. Trans Fats: this type of fat is made synthetically and has absolutely NO health benefits. You should actively avoid consuming this type of fat as it increases your LDL, decreases your HDL and increases your chance of developing heart disease and/or having a stroke 3 times more than other fats. 01.01.2022 Meal prep can be so intimidating when first starting out! Here are some tips to help you out 1. Keep it simple- start out with simple ingredients that are easy to cook in bulk I.e rice, vegetables and potato can all be prepped in bulk. Just add some meat and the meal is complete! 2. Schedule it- write it on your calendar. Block off time. Make it as difficult as possible to make excuses.... 3. Use dependable recipes- it might not be the right time to try a crazy new recipe. Using recipes you know are easy and tasty is a great base to start off of.
