Maybe your daily walks have reminded you that its spring time and the earth is showing you that there is beauty amidst this trying time. Maybe you feel lonely because youre spending more time alone than ever before. Maybe youre feeling lonely in a house full of people. Maybe you found a moment of bliss sitting in bed in your bathroom watching a movie with a glass of wine (me currently ) Maybe you felt a spell of anxiety today (me earlier) Maybe you caught your breath and were able to remind yourself that this too shall pass (me again). Maybe you feel scared. Maybe you feel confident that things will be okay. Maybe you feel none of these things or all of these things at different points throughout the day. Either way. I just want to remind you that during these times its important to put as little pressure on yourself as possible. There are enough pressure in this climate, both socially and economically, dont add to this period by thinking that there is some correct way to move through it emotionally. However you feel is just the way you feel. It is all okay. And on that note. Dont be afraid to reach out to others to talk about how you feel. Post about it to your community, call a friend, a hotline, a family member, a mentor or teacher. We are so much better at helping each other when we know how we are all honestly feeling. 24.01.2022 Sunday nights are always a time for reflection for me. The past week. The weekend. Did I accomplish what I wanted? (When really I should have asked whether I accomplished what I needed)... This quote and others similar to it have always resonated with me. And even though our short terms goals have definitely been impeded this year, our long term goals should still be in motion. The saying goes something like "people always overestimate what they can accomplish in a year and underestimate what can be done in 10." Well, Im heading for that 5-10 year goal baby! Tell all your friends that the Alpine Club of Canadas (@alpineclubcan ) Body Inclusive INTRO to Backcountry Skiing is LIVE for registrations! ... The camp is March 12-14, 2021 and is based out of Canmore (to keep costs low/making this as accessible as possible). It is three days of chill, encouraging and body-inclusive learning about backcountry skiing/split boarding! The camp is open to fat and plus-size cis women, trans women and non-binary folks. It is recommended that skiers/snowboarders have an intermediate skiing ability (eg. comfortable with long days on blue runs and hiking vertical in the snow). PS- I get that skiing/snowboarding isnt the most accessible sport because of ill-fitting snow pants, the high cost of participating in the sport generally, and because right now COVID border closures make things feel super unavailable.
