05.01.2022 TOP 10 WINS OF THE GARY AYRES PMFC ERA - # 1 After weekly updates for the past 10 weeks, we've finally reached NUMBER 1 on our countdown! Was it ever going to be anything else?... The underdog story of the Borough's 2017 season would put some Hollywood movies to shame. After suffering a heavy financial hit entering the 2017 pre-season and agreeing to play Round 1 for no match payments, the Borough fought all the way to a top 4 finish at the end of the home-and-away season. Their first Final was one to forget though, going down to Box Hill and then having to take the long route via the more-favoured Footscray and Minor Premiers Williamstown just to reach 'The Big Dance'. Even then, Ayres' warriors still trailed by 13 points deep into time-on of the final term against a Richmond outfit featuring 19 AFL-listed players. In the true spirit of the season though, Port were not to be denied as a late Mitch Wooffindin snap had them in front before a post-siren set shot from Tiger Ben Lennon went astray, leaving the Borough to celebrate arguably the most famous of all their 17 Premiership Flags well in to the night. Enjoy the goosebumps of these extended highlights from the game! Port Melbourne 11.8-74 defeated Richmond 10.10-70. Goal Kickers: D. Conway 3, C. Cain 2, T. Pinwill, B. Pearson, A. Anastasio, M. Wooffindin, H. Sandilands, E. Templeton. Best Players: L. Cook, M. Wooffindin, B. Mihocek, D. Mascitti, T. Pinwill, L. Waddell. #BornAndBred
