11.01.2022 What a wonderful week we had, so many wonderful act activities celebrating NAIDOC WEEK, from hand prints, dot paintings, boomerang throwing. A NAIDOC show which the children learnt the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and learnt an aboriginal dance and using clapping sticks. Mr Kel cooked kangaroo sausages for the children to try. And for lunch he cooked a traditional Torres Strait Islander dish called Sabee Sabee Domboy, a root vegetables and dumpling dish cooked in coconut milk with pork. Yummy!! Try this one at home so delicious.

11.01.2022 The Kindergarten class celebrating Diwali festival (Festival of Lights) The festival is celebrated for five days. It is a festival of lights and during this festival, people light up their houses and shops with Diya (lamp made out of clay). It is celebrated to honor the prince who returned to his people after 14 years living in the desert. Yesterday, we made Diya(lamp) and today the children helped the teachers to do a Rangoli (design in colour) on the floor.... Thanks for dressing your children in Indian outfit and bringing sweets to share with friends and teachers.

04.01.2022 In the Owls Room, this morning while playing outside, a few of the children noticed a small baby possum hiding in the trees. We carefully and quietly went over and stood at the fence to have a look at the possum. The children were so excited and watched the possum for the rest of the morning. Mr Kel thought the possum may have been hungry so we left some chopped up apple in the tree for the possum to eat when we were eating morning tea. At group time we spoke about the baby ...possum we saw in the tree. We then read "Blossom possum.' This book is about a possum who thinks the sky is falling and goes on a adventure to tell someone and meets lots of different animals on her way. The children pointed out the different animals as they appeared in the book. At lunch time we noticed that the possum was still in the tree and not with its mother, so Miss Cheerie called the wildlife people and Miss Keeleigh took the possum to a wildlife place. Kerry the Wildlife ranger looked him over and will now look after him.
