18.01.2022 SOW this is Christmas! Last delivery is on its way, see you soon @thegreenfolly

18.01.2022 I KNOW I planted you late but I’ve taken care of you since you were teeny, picked the caterpillars off you.. please sprout for me purple broccoli!!

16.01.2022 Winners will be drawn tomorrow night! Stay tuned! See original post for details, good luck & happy gardening! xo Jo

14.01.2022 TUESDAY TIP! Letting a few of your carrots flower will keep those nasty aphids under control, ladybirds LOVE them & will feast on approx 50 aphids each day. Swipe to see ladybird larvae- they’re larger than the adults & consume up to 200 a day!! This Autumn I’m teaming up my brassicas (broccoli, cauliflowers etc) with carrots, chives & onions to win the war against the aphids & cabbage moths... #companionplanting See more

10.01.2022 Sweet peas & pumpkins Not just a pretty combo in the garden but functional! While pumpkin requires a lot of nitrogen to support its growing vines, sweet peas (specifically the rhizobia bacteria they attract) give nitrogen back to the soil. Companion planting is not just for deterring pests

10.01.2022 Time to hang up my gardening hat for a little while. The time to put all my energy into my new bub has come. We’ve found out it’s not going to be as smooth ‘a welcome as we’d like for new bubs so I’ll be on socials only to connect with you lovely people sporadically & for a little distraction.... My online stock is currently sold out but if you’re local - can find my range @edwards_providore @thegreenfolly & @moncoeurbendigo. If you’d like to reach out with any garden questions please do -I’ll just take a little while to get back to you. xo Happy Gardening

06.01.2022 CROP ROTATION. With a background in science, I love to get my nerd on whenever possible! Crop rotation is all about utilising the nutrients left from your previous crop to benefit your next crop (or to replenish the soil nutrients when depleted from previous crops). Ie peas replenish the soil with nitrogen, so ‘heavy feeders’ like broccoli will benefit from that soil after the peas have been taken out My quick guide for where to plant this year’s autumn veggies (...without the gardening jargon): (Previous crop/patch next crop) Broccoli radishes & spinach Peas broccoli & chives Cauliflower carrots & lettuce Tomatoes & carrots cauli & onions Pumpkins beetroot, kale & onions *the above also takes into account companion planting to attract beneficial insects & keep the pests away.. (ie your chives & onions will keep the aphids & white moths/caterpillars from your broc, cauli & kale) xo Happy Gardening See more

04.01.2022 Small beginnings These QLD blue heirloom pumpkins have a long way to go but are off to a pretty good start. They can grow up to 5kg!! That’s a lot of pumpkin scones #summerharvest #rainbowroastedveg #rainbowsoup

04.01.2022 EDIBLE FLOWERS chive flowers - cornflowers - nasturtiums & violas are a few of the varieties in our edible flower kit. Perfect for adding a splash of colour to salads, desserts & cocktails

02.01.2022 THROWback Thursday. When the covid chaos hit last year, we were lucky enough to throw ourselves into landscaping. Starting my little biz & building our family. Gardening & pottering around has become such an escape & we’re so lucky to have some land around us. Thinking of those in less fortunate conditions around the world.

01.01.2022 Forget me not These sprouted from my ‘wildcard’ seedpaper & have just started blooming This card is for a friend to remind them they are ‘sow loved’ & won’t be forgotten although they may be far away These are just a bit too cute.
