11.01.2022 OUCH! Does this look a bit too familiar to you? Ankle sprains are a common injury caused by overstretching and/or tearing the ligaments that support the ankle. This injury most commonly occurs on the outside ankle. If ankle sprains arent treated appropriately, they can cause long term issues. Treatments include: ICING AND REST on the first day to reduce inflammation. After this, the main aim of treatment is to get the area moving and rehabed as quickly as possible. At Podiat...ry One we perform DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE and DRY NEEDLING to promote healthy blood flow/drainage, STRAPPING to support/stabilise the area and STRETCHING and STRENGTHENING exercises specific to the injured ligaments and surrounding structures. With the sporting season well upon us, good balance and sporting techniques are essential to prevent this injury. Follow up post coming up with tips on how to prevent ankle sprains!

11.01.2022 Flat feet vs High arched feet One of the most common questions we get asked as podiatrists is are my feet too flat Flat feet are more common than high arched feet and although may not always be a bad thing, it means your feet arent being held in a neutral position. From this, abnormal loading through the foot can occur, resulting in pain and inflammation in the feet, ankles, knees, hips and back. ... PREVENTING pain or TREATING pain is at the heart of Podiatry One At Podiatry One, we are able to perform a comprehensive biomechanical assessment using technology which analyses your foot alignment and gait (walking) patterns and pressures. We also manually assess the joints, muscles and bones in your lower limb to determine their strength/weakness and quality and range of motion. So what now? Treating flat feet/high arched feet is a matter of correcting the alignment, supporting, strengthening and stretching the muscles which support your arch and other lower limb muscles. How can we help you at Podiatry One? - Strengthening/stretching exercise prescription - Massage/dry needling/shockwave therapy - Sports taping - Orthotics Call us today on 8824 4211 to book in an assessment and determine YOUR foot alignment
