At Point Cook Tutoring, we help you plan ahead and recognise the difficult road upfront before it is too late. Over 10,000 + hours of VCE tutoring experience. Having tutored VCE Maths to students from numerous schools in Victoria (Melb High, Mac Rob, Suzanne Corey, Westbourne, Thomas Carr, Werr Secondary, Heathdale, Emmanuel, MSJ, PC Senior, Williamstown High, and many others) we are well aware of the style of teaching snd expectations of various schools. Top scores - Further Maths - 50 Raw; Maths Methods - 50 scaled; Specialist Maths 46 scaled. Exam-Style Questions: We always go through a large variety of exam style questions and break them down to ensure that students are well-prepared to interpret and work through problems in their exams. (3/4 Methods) Covering tough topics not taught in class such as multivariable calculus! After-class help with regular follow up of important Maths concepts from grade 8-9-10 that may have been forgotten or not taught properly in the past. Exam tips and strategies that are not stressed or even covered by teachers at school. E.g. how to spend your reading time effectively. Past and Trial SACs Over 100+ trial exams from numerous companies Hand written lesson notes on each topic and lots of discussion and concept clearing on fundamentals. We also go through learning resources such as worksheets, practice exams and notes to aid you in learning! - . Please share if you think this will benefit other VCE students. 09.01.2022 ‘ ’ , . https://www.3aw.com.au/vce-students-in-tears-after-tougher/... Not only that hours of preparations are needed before the exams, these exams are very very heavy in algebra, needs out of the box thinking and application which is scarcely taught at school. My name is Parthiv Valera and I have been teaching VCE Maths Methods for over 7 years now. In 2014, I left my job as a CFO with a high 6 figure salary and a corporate lifestyle; to pursue my passion to teach Maths. I genuinely care that each child should be given a good Maths foundation to avoid the heart break in VCE. I have identified patterns, strategies and type of Maths and practice questions that are required to succeed. There is a false thinking in a lot of students and parents that we would seek tuitions in year 11 or 12 since my child is doing good at the moment but by this time it is way too late. Majority of students who start with me in grade 11 or 12 - , . It is really really important that you choose the right tutor who can tutor your child for Maths through primary middle school and VCE. Ideally choose the same tutor to avoid different ways and strategies and calculator handling skills. The VCE Maths exams are completely different from the questions in the textbook or what is taught in class by teachers. Unfortunately, you cannot rely completely at school or the teachers at school. Almost ALL of my students - be it from a select school around us or the top private schools around - have preferred my teachings over their schools and corrected their teacher’s errors regularly. On an average my top performing students are writing over 35-40 practice exams before they attempt the final exam. This is not an over statement. The difference in math level on transition from year 10 to 11 is massive and then from 11 to 12 is gigantic. Your performances up to grade 10 surely helps but past cannot be always reliant for the future. The bar for VCE has been raised to a very high level. I believe Maths, when taught properly is easy and VCE Maths is definitely manageable. Ensure your child has the right foundation for Maths, start them early and start then with me. In the last 7 years I have taught over 500 VCE students with remarkable success rate. Almost 95% plus of our students have gone into their desired university and course and a vast majority of them into Uni of Melbourne. With a team of 10 tutors and admin staff, we have batches starting from Grade 1 all through to VCE. Contact me and find for yourself how I can assist in your or your child’s journey through VCE. 08.01.2022 My dear VCE Students, This week signals the final time you will have to open a VCE book as a high school student. Your examinations will be now done and the next chapter of your life will begin. I have no doubt that the intervening period of time will involve a lot of relief that the exams are done and also some close to sleepless nights of anxiety in the period awaiting your results. I am sure that you had put your best foot forward and gave your best shot at the exams. ... While most will lead you to believe that your whole future is resting on year 12 exams. That moment when your mobile phone beeps with your ATAR results or that final click on the computer or a tablet, surely it is an important moment in your time but honestly years or even days or months later it is just a moment in time. A score in an exam doesn’t define you. Nothing I say or write would defines you. . You will not be a success or a failure in life based on your year 12 final grades alone. Now don’t get me wrong high grades are valuable. , when you leave school. And certainly that’s what you want: options. But in the long term, success in life is about your ability to bounce-back. - The people who are living their dreams, who are making a mark are not necessarily the people who got straight A’s or did fabulously well in their VCE. They are the people who are resilient and persistent. They are the people who had faith in themselves and kept going. . . We all belong to a specific journey and a dream. Be persistent and you will find your true destination. I hope that someday you will reflect on the days of our Maths class with fondness. Although, I definitely know, you may never want to graph another Circular function, do an Integration by Recognition or read a page-full of ever-so confusing probability question or my constant nagging of work harder, be faster or even trying to improve your writing. I hope you will remember that as your tutor, I cared about your success more than you will ever know. So my simple message is thank youfor giving me an opportunity to be a part of an important year in your academic career, making me focus on what was important for all of us and which is why I quit my corporate job and became a tutor. Finally, I want to wish you all the best in finding your path to happiness and success whatever that may look like for you. Warm Regards, Parthiv Valera Point Cook Tutoring

08.01.2022 , ! Encouragement and the right method of teaching can actually motivate kids who then start enjoying what they are learning.... Here is a great attempt from our little author Aahan - one of our primary student, who has beautifully expressed his imagination through his creative writing. 07.01.2022 ? ? The main goal of tutoring is to help someone to become a lifelong independent learner, who thereby acquires critical learning skills, and who helps them learn how to help himself/herself.... While guiding him/ her through the process of tutoring, a good tutor will discuss the process that will allow the student find his or her own solutions. When a tutor asks a question, for example What is the least common denominator?, and the child doesn’t remember the definition, most tutors will give out the definition, they will even ask the student to write it down. What does he or she learn by that? He or she learns that it is okay not to know the basics and when the student doesn’t know the basics, he or she assumes someone will teach it to him or her. Life in the work place doesn’t operate that way. Life in general doesn’t operate that way. This is the reason that a good tutor will not be completely satisfied by just a correct answer, but will extend by asking, How did you come to that conclusion?. How would you check the answer, Is your answer reasonable?, What makes you think that, or What would happen if we changed .. In short tutoring needs to be #pointcooktutoring #tutorsinpointcook #primary #friendlytutors #kidslovetolearn #parthivvalera #ExcellenceAlways #bestinwest #motivation #tutors #learntogrow #criticalthinking #learner #conceptualteaching

04.01.2022 Answers for Maths Method - Exam 1. As expected, one of the hardest exams of VCE. I wonder what is the point of such an exam that over 95% of students cannot attempt fully.... Anyhow, share as needed to help out other VCE students.

01.01.2022 When looking at a question - Write down what you have been given. ... Give letters to names or drawing out patterns. Writing or drawing something helps you think, keeps your mind ticking 100% of the time. If you have a pattern, go through your operations (+, -, x, /) but also think about alternating patterns (every second number) at the same time, think about squared numbers. If you have no idea after about a minute, guess it and move on. This is a skill which may come naturally to some, but can be learnt and developed as well. Good luck with your preparations and remember this is just the start of your academic journey - .
