11.01.2022 Who is a farmer? The image people outside of the country have of Australian farmers is outdated. Every day, an Australian farmer produces enough food to feed 60...0 people. We care for 51% of the entire Australian landscape. That’s why we’re telling this story, to better connect Australia with the truth of our journey. We’re all pushing in the same direction, all part of the same cycle. This is the first step in a long-term commitment to closing the divide between our farmers and the community. #WeAreAusFarmers #AusAg

07.01.2022 A recent tour visiting four properties across the Mid North provided over 50 local landholders with an opportunity to see how containment feeding set ups could ...be implemented at various scales. The group toured four properties at Booleroo Centre, Black Rock and Jamestown, hearing from farmers about why they had implemented containment feeding on their property, how they had selected their containment sites, what they had learned through the process of setting up the containment lots, the costs involved and the positive impact that containment feeding had had on their flocks. Deb Scammell from Talking Livestock who facilitated the day said that containment feeding can be a useful tool to ensure that stock are fed precisely and economically to meet their nutritional requirements. The added benefit is that they use less energy as they’re not walking around the paddock, ground cover in paddocks is preserved, there is reduced erosion and the land has a greater ability to recover quickly after a dry period, Ms Scammell said. The tour was hosted by Upper North Farming Systems through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program, Natural Resources Northern and Yorke, Ag Excellence Alliance Inc, Zoetis and Alltech Lienert Australia. Thank you to JP Carey, Tom and Jim Keurschner, Seth and Tom Cooper and James Moore for hosting the group on your properties and sharing your knowledge with us. 05.01.2022 So great to get our Regenerating Goyders Line project started. Funded by National Landcare Funding, this project is hoping to put farmers back in the driver sea...t on once cropped paddocks now left in a non-productive condition. It will involve research into the most effective seeder set up to restore soil function, how to work within the Native Vegetation Legislation to maximise productivity and ecological function and how to manage the paddocks into the future. Great to have Anne Brown from Greening Australia on board for the project and to get our new Engagement Coordinator, Denni Russell out in the field again. See more
