20.01.2022 In lieu of the recent NSW Health information regarding COVID-19 and the recommendations to preserve national health via social distancing, we have come to the very tough decision to temporarily close the clinic for a period of two weeks. As a small family business, this decision was not taken lightly, however, given the possible risks of asymptomatic transmission to the greater community (as well as our family), we hope to do our part to reduce any unnecessary risks to the el...derly and vulnerable. In these times, we feel it is best to PREPARE and not panic, just as prevention is preferred over treatment. Rest assured we have not been diagnosed with COVID-19, nor have we been in contact with any known carriers of COVID-19, but like many small businesses, we are doing our due diligence while the nature of the virus is unknown. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and disruption to the continuity of your treatment. We will keep everyone updated as to the reopening of the clinic. We intend to reopen on April 1st, however, this may change depending on the advice of NSW Health and Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency. All patients currently scheduled from March 18 until March 31st have been contacted directly today. If you have any concerns, don't hesitate to contact us via email. Thank you for your understanding and we hope you stay well. Ryan and Lani #covid_19 #retreat #smallbusiness #newcastle #fortheelders

12.01.2022 COVID - 19: What can we do? Our best line of defence is to stay home. Of course, that isn’t possible for everyone and we are likely to expose ourselves to something on our trips to the shops, petrol station, or the hospital. Preventative medicine: This is using herbs to help support the immune system and ward off infection. Similar to taking other supplements (such as Vitamin C, Zinc etc. that are common for cold/flu season), we use a number of different herbs and formulas ...to suit this stage. Active Illness - Mild Cases: Our position is to assist those patients who are symptomatic (be it a cold, the flu, or COVID-19) but who have been deemed safe to stay at home and monitor their symptoms. At this level, we can assist with supportive and anti-viral herbs to help manage symptoms. Recovery: The recovery period of severe cases of the flu or COVID-19 may reflect a weakened respiratory and digestive function and weakened immune system. We can offer support to patients at this stage with gentle formulas to assist in energy, appetite and general rehabilitation. Please enquire to find out about our immune supporting herbal medicines and our over-the-phone herbal consultations. #COVID19 #Chineseherbalmedicine #Immunesupport #Pokeacupuncture https://www.pokeacupuncture.com.au//covid-19-what-can-we-do

06.01.2022 || RESPONSE TO COVID-19 || As you may have seen in recent news, reports are returning that Traditional Chinese Medicine has played a large part of therapy for COVID-19 in China. We have been following closely the work of our colleagues in the USA and also documentation coming from well-revered TCM experts that detail herbs and treatment plans being used in China.... We are in the process of securing quantities of Chinese Herbs for supporting immunity and aiding in symptomatic relief of COVID-19, based on these protocols and our knowledge. We are in no position to have asymptomatic or active cases within our clinic and the clinic will remain closed to the public. We also don’t want to sit back and watch this unfold, helpless. BUT, we CAN offer over-the-phone herbal consults and we are working hard to establish a procedure for this and herb delivery or pick-up. We don’t know what tomorrow brings, but NSW cases alone have jumped dramatically since Monday evening when we made the decision to close the clinic. Let’s all do our part to help slow down the spread. Please stay tuned for further information! We wish you all good health xo Ryan and Lani #covid_19 #socialdistancing #covidtcm #chineseherbs #pokeacupuncture #newcastle #doingmypartnewie

03.01.2022 What changes a week can bring. Today marks a week since we decided to close our doors to the public. It also marks an important day for our small town, where many of you are no doubt feeling overwhelmed, scared, and a bit frustrated at the lack of clarity. ... According to guidance from our association, AACMA, our occupations as TCM practitioners are deemed allied health services by the Australian government, which is recognised as primary health care providers. This is good news. This may also change- as the government directives have not been super clear for many occupations and things will shutdown much more. Some of you will have had to close up this week...and some surprisingly not yet... We will remain closed for the full two weeks and at this point will still only be operating herbal services while we make decisions on PPE for in clinic use. Tomorrow marks Day 8 isolation. We’d cant wait to tell you about it... Stay well, and please stay home. *** #covid_19 #pokeacupuncture #tcm #immunesupport #newcastlensw #newy #fitnewcastle #alliedhealth #coronavirus #antiviral #stayhome #repost #love

02.01.2022 DAY 8 ISOLATION: We want to tell you more about how we are surviving right now. We have been taking this seriously for over a week. Lani stays home with the two kids and Ryan is our designated messenger. 1. Get up. Brekkie. Chinese immune supportive herbs (kids get ‘Robin Hood Tea’ which we think makes the herbs taste better)... 2. Ryan is our designated ‘outside’ person (Lani is asthmatic and slightly less robust (). If we need groceries or errands, Ryan goes out. Typically one outing at a time. 3. Ryan takes hand sanitiser. And avoids being near people as much as humanly possible. In and out. Sanitise. Car. Home. 4. When he comes home, clothes go straight in the washing machine outside. He showers. Clean all personal items like keys, phone, cards. Shoes for going out in left outside. Spray car handles and steering wheel with alcohol. 5. We regularly are cleaning our home and high touch areas. 6. Evening supportive Chinese herbs ( and Robin Hood Tea for the kids). Can feel a little overkill at times, but really, we are just doing the best that we can so that we are still available when our services are needed. We got some good news that our shipments of herbs are on the way... it may be a week or so until we are set up shop again and establish some new protocols. Thank you to the patients and public that have reached out. We look forward to being able to continue to help you and will be in touch as soon as we are set up to start dispensing. And a big thanks to all the front-line medical staff - daunting days ahead. All those still working, teaching, delivering and more. Stay home. Stay well. #covid_19 #pokeacupuncture #stayhome #immunesupport #tcmherbs #doingmypartnewie #covidtcm #socialdistancing #retreat #newcastle #newy #fitnewcastle @ Newcastle, New South Wales
