17.01.2022 MELBOURNE NEWS: The Melbourne 2020 Committee are so excited to announce that we have collected over 4000 player signatures in a petition to support our nomination, and we have formal Government support for the nomination from both Visit Victoria Corporate and Creative Victoria and Victorian Greens MP Sam Hibbins who holds their Events Portfolio. 16.01.2022 SOUTH AUSTRALIA UPDATE A group of interested persons in the community had aimed to submit a Safari zone event request for Adelaide. Along with this we were working with a couple of northern metro councils to raise awareness of the AR Gaming community. Doing both was a mammoth task. With Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney already well on their way with developing proposals it was decided by this group to focus efforts on local events. Zoe has encouraged everyone to fill in our petition/survey and linked to it in the comments. What we are collecting here is raw data that is going to be very useful in the push for events. 05.01.2022 Australian players - Regarding today's release of Niantic's post about city submissions for 2020: To South Australian Players: Please be aware that a group of interested persons including the admins from PoGoSA Discord and Pokémon Go South Australia Facebook page are currently creating a business case to present to Adelaide City Council and the SA Tourism Board to submit Adelaide as a proposed city for a 2020 event. The deadline for submissions is October so this may take a w...hile. We will keep you updated on Facebook and Discord about our progress. If you are in South Australia, please share this post to your local groups. If you are elsewhere in Australia and New Zealand and want to post something similar here to let your communities know that you are also submitting your city, please message us with the details and we will post them here. Finally, Brisbane is already well into their contact with Niantic to host an event. So please contact the Brisbane page for more details if you are interested.
02.01.2022 As we Australians move through the process of submitting our towns and cities for the 2020 Safari events we Australians need to keep one thing in mind: Australia is competing against the rest of the world for this event. So, when you see a post asking to vote for Brisbane, Darwin, Canberra, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Melbourne or the Outback....VOTE YES TO THEM ALL! Australians need to show Niantic that we support an event in Australia no matter which state it is in. S...hare these "vote for this city" event posts among your pokemon discord groups and facebook pages in each state. Share this page and ask people to like and subscribe so you are kept up to date with what is happening. Let's ensure that interstate rivalries do not ruin the possibilities of an event being held DownUnder.
