20.02.2022 Just after you rap the @nswgoverment for EXCLUDING the overseas (tax haven) based online travel agents from the Stay (parents) vouchers you find that tax payer funded @destination_nsw has partnered with one of online behemoths, Expedia (Wotif) to extract more from Australian accommodation operators. Sounds crazy, but what if this tax payer funded department partnered with the Australian based operators & promoted a book direct campaign rather than proudly partnering ...with an offshore based website that likely employs less Australians than we alone do? Why does it matter? Any booking made via this partnership with a NSW Government agency will cost the accommodation provider 23.5% in commissions and other charges. On a 2 night / 4 person $800 booking that would mean the Australian accommodation supplier receiving $188 less than had a guest booked directly. 11.02.2022 We are registered and approved to accept the @nswgoverment stay vouchers. The T & C’s are pretty clear & we are thankful (& pretty shocked) that the Government got it right! The vouchers CANNOT be used if a booking is made via a 3rd party (overseas) based online travel agency. This includes booking.com, Expedia (Wotif) and agoda. So, book direct, book Australian based and use your vouchers!
