18.01.2022 The Nomads on the Polio eradication trail in Nuriootpa!

15.01.2022 Kapunda Town Square, Friday 13th November from 10.00 am until 3.30 pm. The eradication of polio is one of Rotary International's longest standing and most signi...ficant efforts. Along with our partners, we have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won't stop until we end the disease for good. To raise awareness and assist with ending Polio, the Rotary Club of Kapunda will be displaying the ute and a trailer which contains a functioning iron lung in the Kapunda Town Square on Friday 13th November from 10.00 am until 3.30 pm. Come and view the display, throw a $ in our bucket to support ending Polio in the world. What is the Iron Lung? Large polio epidemics caused panic every summer during the 1940s and 50s in industrialised countries including Australia. At that time, people with polio affecting the respiratory muscles were immobilized inside iron lungs huge metal cylinders that operated like a pair of bellows to regulate their breathing and keep them alive. Today, the iron lung has largely been replaced by the positive pressure ventilator; nevertheless, it is still in use in some countries. See more

09.01.2022 Afghanistan may be one of the hardest countries in the world to deliver healthcare, but Rotary International and our partners are making great progress to #endpolio in Afghanistan, including amazing advocacy efforts by Rotary members in Japan.

07.01.2022 Very sad to learn that three polio eradication workers in Afghanistan were murdered while undertaking a round of immunisation in Jalalabad. Our cause owes a great debt to all who undertake this dangerous work, and Nagina, Basira and Samina are the latest heroes in this quest.

06.01.2022 In light of COVID-19, many #WorldPolioDay events need to be virtual.
