21.01.2022 This video explains how borers damage Hoop Pine timber floors. We discuss how we detect them in your floors and how the level of damage will vary from floorboard to floorboard. We can then repair your floors in preparation for the sanding and polishing processes.

16.01.2022 What the hell is GHOSTING or CHATTER MARKS??? Unless you are in the timber floor sanding and polishing industry, there are some terms commonly used which may seem a little strange. Ghosting is a term given to specific ‘milky-white’ marks. They appear on a minimal number of floors over time. And chatter marks are a fine corrugation left in the surface of a timber floor after using an inferior machine, or a machine which is not balanced correctly. Our page on floor sanding terminology dives deeper into explaining these terms in more detail, along with many others used in the floor sanding and polishing industry. We like our customers to be able to make an informed decision when we meet them on-site to quote on their floors. Visit our page: https://economyfloorsbrisbane.com.au//flooring-contractor/

04.01.2022 Have an old Queenslander with Hoop Pine floors? Chances are, when you pull up your floor coverings you will find either a black border around the floors or total black coating over the floor. This is called Black Japan. After it is sanded off it can leave a two-tone colour effect. The best case scenario is to find a total black floor. This will avoid the lighter colour tone around the border when sanded. The colour variation is due to moisture/dirt penetrating into the bare timber area (centre area of the rooms) over an extended period of time while the border with Black Japan is perfectly sealed off.
