25.01.2022 Most Stonnington residents should have now received their ballots in the mail. A: Vote [1] Polly Morgan, and be sure to number all the other boxes to make your vote count. B: Research your candidates: reach out to me if you have any questions on my policies. C: Make your vote count. Post it back as soon as you've completed it. Voting closes at 6pm on October 23rd so you need to get your ballot posted before then. Don't leave it to late.

25.01.2022 Local councillors should make decisions in the best interest of the community. I will never take donations from property developers. We need to strengthen local democracy and ensure local communities come first. It's time to ban donations from property developers in local government and all levels of government. Vote 1 Polly Morgan for Stonnington East Ward

24.01.2022 Getting takeaway from Burgertory on the corner of Chapel St & Malvern Road. Tough time to be starting up a new business thanks to the pandemic - really hope they do well. It’s also great to have this place open with a business operating after it has been vacant for so long. They also have some really nice looking vegan burgers on the menu. We need to do more to support local traders who have been hit hard by the restrictions needed to curb the pandemic. All levels of governme...nt need to give more financial support to businesses who can’t operate or who are heavily restricted in how they can operate until it’s safe for restrictions to be eased. #chapelstreet #chapelst #stonnington #prahran #supportlocal #shoplocal #supportlocalbusiness #chapelstreetprecinct #chapelstreet @ Burgertory See more

22.01.2022 Most cyclists in Stonnington feel unsafe on our roads. We need to improve safety for cyclists by building safer cycling lanes. Safer cycling lanes will: Boost urban renewal and cut carbon emissions... Reduce congestion while also reducing air pollution Improve people’s health, getting us fit and active Vote [1] Polly Morgan for Stonnington East Ward

22.01.2022 The Greens want to hear about what matters to young people so here’s your chance to be heard. Take our survey here: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/5764644/2020YouthFBo If you're over 30, tag someone you know who is 30 and under in the comments of this post so they can check it out, or share it to your friends.

22.01.2022 Victoria has everything we need to stop using gas, and doing it as part of a renewables-led recovery would tackle climate change AND create thousands of jobs. https://greens.org.au/vic/campaigns/victoria-says-no-gas

21.01.2022 Did you know that almost half of the people who live in Stonnington rent? Some candidates in this election are pushing policies, like massive rates cuts, that would result in cuts to essential council services. Does anyone really think that landlords are going to pass any rates cuts on to the tenants who are actually paying the rates through their rent?... A 20% rates cut means that absent landlords are going to get a massive tax break at the expense of residents who are renting, while Stonnington residents see vital community services like childcare and youth services cut back. How is this fair? If I’m elected to council, I’ll fight to protect core community services from unfair cuts, while offering targeted rates relief to those most in need, such as pensioners and struggling local traders. Vote 1 Polly Morgan for Stonnington East Ward.

20.01.2022 It's so good to see our restaurants, cafes and retailers able to have more customers. I'm interested in what people think about the pop-up outdoor dining spaces. Have you tried any of them yet?

19.01.2022 Did you know that Stonnington now has the least amount of open space per person of any council in Victoria? We need more trees and parks, not more concrete. My plan for a greener, more liveable Stonnington includes protecting our trees and parks and creating new open spaces for us all to enjoy. If I'm elected to Council, I’ll fight to keep Stonnington liveable by protecting our trees and parks.

19.01.2022 This year's Stonnington Council elections are being held by postal ballot. You should be receiving your ballot in the mail from the The Victorian Electoral Commission sometime next week. Please check out the following video from the VEC on how to vote in these local council elections. Don't forget to post your ballot back to the VEC by 6pm on Friday October 23rd.

18.01.2022 Almost everyone should have received their ballots by now. Please vote and post them back this week so you don’t forget and so they get back to the VEC in time for your vote to count. 18.01.2022 Almost half of the people who live in Stonnington rent. How is it fair for some candidates to push for a massive cut on rates, which will just go to absent landlords and see so many residents miss out, and will also mean essential community services like child care, aged care and youth services will have to be cut back?

17.01.2022 It was fantastic to catch up with Katherine Copsey. Our neighbours in City of Port Phillip have been doing great work on tackling the climate emergency and the waste crisis. They’ve also recently passed proposals to fulfill the Rainbow Pledge and have funded a wonderful Active Sports program for local residents (improving health and wellbeing for residents and providing real value for money for their local ratepayers).

16.01.2022 Bringing back street performers to our shopping strips has been a really great idea, and I'd love to see this happen again in the future.

15.01.2022 If elected, I’ll keep Stonnington liveable and sustainable by planting more trees. My plan for Stonnington includes: Increasing tree coverage by planting more trees on nature strips, streets and Council land Re-establishing a ‘Significant Trees Register’ that is accessible online and encourage residents to make suggestions and report breaches.... Mitigating the heat island effect by developing a tree canopy strategy and protecting our urban forest Vote 1 Polly Morgan for Stonnington East Ward

15.01.2022 Stonnington now has the least amount of open space per person of any council in Victoria. We need to protect our trees and parks, and create new green open spaces for the us all to enjoy. For a liveable, sustainable and fairer Stonnington, Vote 1 Polly Morgan for Stonnington, East Ward.

15.01.2022 This is going to be a great event - and a fantastic opportunity to find out more on how to reduce waste.

13.01.2022 The final Glow pop-up series in Prahran Square is fantastic. Check it out before it ends on May 16th. #stonnington #whatsonstonnington #stonningtoncouncil #glowfest #glowfestival #prahran #glowpopupseries #prahransquare #chapestreet #chapelstreetprecinct

12.01.2022 There is so much more we can do to improve recycling and tackle the waste crisis. Here's what Greens have been able to achieve on councils throughout Victoria.

11.01.2022 My first proper hair cut since before the original lockdown. Thanks @thebeardedmanmelbourne

10.01.2022 Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). It's a really important day for members of the LGBTIQA+ community, as it's a day calling for an end to discrimination, and for promoting inclusion and acceptance, IDAHOBIT is about valuing all of us for who we are, and for treating everyone in our community with fairness, with dignity and with respect.

10.01.2022 Whatever their opinions of Greens Councillors, almost everyone agrees that they're some of the hardest working local representatives around. Here are just some of the reasons I hope you'll consider voting for me this week.

09.01.2022 This is so important as we rebuild after the pandemic - we need to put people and our community first.

08.01.2022 I've been asked by community members about my position on Percy Treyvaud Park and building a netball and basketball court stadium in Stonnington. I want to review the project to build the stadium at Percy Treyvaud Park to find a more suitable location in Stonnington for the stadium. A netball and basketball court stadium should be built in a location that works best for our community. I'll work with residents and sporting groups to ensure we have excellent sporting facilities... in accessible places. Unlike many other candidates running in this election, who want to abandon the stadium entirely, I support building the stadium. I believe we need to find a better location for the stadium in Stonnington (one which isn't at the edge of the municipality and right next to Chadstone shopping centre, which is already a traffic nightmare) which is why I want a review to find an alternative location while the project is currently delayed both by the current court case regarding the project and the lockdown restrictions caused by the pandemic. 08.01.2022 Wow - Chadstone is pretty much unrecognizable now from when it first opened.

06.01.2022 I was recently invited to sit down and answer some questions from some Stonnington residents. Here's the first of 3 parts of my answers.

05.01.2022 Our community has been hit hard by the w impact of the covid pandemic. (See the ABC Online article: https://www.abc.net.au//jobkeeper-cuts-dramatic-/12873206 ) One of the most import things we need to keep doing when we can is supporting our local businesses. Have you given the new temporary outdoor dining spaces a go? If so, leave a comment on what you think about them. I’ve already have a few people contact me & the feedback so far is good. Let me know what you think. #stonnington #supportlocal #shoplocal

04.01.2022 "All Australians should celebrate and be proud of the culture, survival and achievements of the oldest living culture on Earth, and NAIDOC Week is our opportuni...ty to do that. By ‘living’ I mean that our culture continues to not only survive, but flourish and change over time." A powerful reflection on the history and opportunity for reflection NAIDOC Week holds for us all from Lidia Thorpe.

04.01.2022 Many people have contacted me to ask for my views on the proposed Stadium at Percy Treyvaud Memorial Park. Firstly, I want to state that these are my own views and, if elected, I will fully consider and take into account all views and evidence regarding this project, as required by the Local Government Act and under common law. I also acknowledge the huge level of frustration and fatigue around this project. I think the next council needs to urgently review this project, and... I believe we need to find an alternative location that is more suitable for the stadium. Local residents have let me know about the significant, and ongoing impact the proposed stadium would have on them. They already experience traffic and noise issues due to the ever expanding Chadstone Shopping Centre. Traffic is a widespread issue for our city. Also, people rightly want to protect the liveability of their homes and their local neighbourhood, and this beautiful park has many significant trees that should be protected, not destroyed. However, I also want to state that I do think we urgently need more sporting infrastructure, and especially more netball courts, in Stonnington. I don't think it is acceptable for Stonnington to continue to fail to provide enough sporting facilities for our children, and particularly for girls who get less than 10% of the use of our sporting facilities. The people, including families with young children or teenagers, wanting decent facilities to use locally for sport are also residents and ratepayers in our city. They matter too, and I won't just dismiss their needs. I support finding an alternative location for the stadium and I support upgrading our sporting infrastructure. I want to find ways we can all work constructively together to get the best outcome on this issue for the whole community. See more

03.01.2022 Did you know that almost 1 in 5 Australians have a disability? I’m a disabled person myself - I have ADHD and auditory processing disorder. I’ve been a member of Access Stonnington, Stonnington’s Disability Access and Advisory Committee for the past four years. Retiring East Ward Councillor, Cr Glen Atwell - Stonnington East Ward has done outstanding work as chair of Access Stonnington which I want to acknowledge, including getting upgrades to playgrounds to improve access fo...r children with disabilities, a Changing Places facility at Chadstone, and a Changing Places Plan for Stonnington. This work has made a huge difference for so many people in Stonnington - but there’s more that needs to be done. I’m passionate about transforming Stonnington so it is leading the way for the rest of the state on access and inclusion for all residents. We need upgrades to our footpaths, open spaces and community facilities so they are fully accessible. New residential and commercial developments need to be based on the principles of universal design so everyone can access them. We need to work with the state government to make sure our public transport infrastructure, including all our tram stops, are accessible. Vote 1 Polly Morgan for Stonnington East Ward

03.01.2022 I’ve signed the ASU’s Local Council Candidate Pledge because I believe every worker has the right to a quality work environment with a secure job and fair wages and conditions. 02.01.2022 Ballot packs from the VEC for the Stonnington Council elections will be arriving at voters' homes next week. Here's my official Candidate Statement that will be included with the ballot paper and here's the photo of me that goes with it. Please get in touch with any questions, and if I don't hear from you, I hope I can count on your vote. -Polly ----... As a Stonnington local and Greens-Endorsed Candidate, I’m running for Council because I want a Council that listens to residents and acts in the best interests of all of us. My vision is for Stonnington to be a truly inclusive community for all residents, with beautiful parks, sustainable and accessible housing and infrastructure, and a neighbourhood character that is valued and protected. I live in East Ward, in Malvern, and grew up in Glen Iris, and I love our diverse and vibrant community with its rich history and heritage. As an IT professional, I understand the way technology interacts with community, a skill I'd love to bring to Council. I have served on the disability access and advisory committee to Stonnington Council for four years, and I understand the importance of having a Council that works for the good of the whole community. I’m standing with the Greens because we support transparency and accountability in government, and a society that cares for people and the environment. My priorities are to: 1) Build a greener, more liveable Stonnington for us all to enjoy by protecting our trees, parks and open spaces from poor planning decisions and inappropriate development that doesn’t meet the needs of the community. 2) Fight for better access and inclusion for all residents, particularly for people with disabilities and the elderly. 3) Promote sustainable, innovative businesses in Stonnington to both ensure we take stronger action to address the Climate Emergency, and to protect local jobs and help local businesses recover from the impact of the current pandemic. Please contact me at [email protected]. Vote [1] Polly Morgan for a liveable, sustainable and fairer Stonnington.

02.01.2022 Grabbed coffee and snacks from @deganimalverneast and catching up with a friend outdoors who I haven’t seen in person for a few months. I’m really hopeful we’ll see more restrictions ease soon, given the changes announced today. Lets get through the next few weeks and keep on supporting our local traders whenever you can. #shoplocal #supportlocal #stonnington #stonningtoncouncil #malvern #malverneast #gleniris

02.01.2022 I want to give a huge shout out to one of my best mates, Dinesh, who has walked 15km over the past few days to help letterbox my flyer. Thank you, DInesh - and thanks also to all the local volunteers helping my campaign. Also, if you’d like a sign for your front fence or your shop window, you can sign up for one here, and a member of our team will be in touch to drop one over to you: https://victoria.greens.org.au/placard_2020... #malvern #malverneast #gleniris #stonnington #stonningtoncitycouncil #stonningtoncouncil #stonningtongreens2020 #vicgreens
