11.01.2022 Dear owners, Due to Covid-19 outbreak, our services are only open for emergencies : sick and injured animals and any animal you feel may be in pain or uncomfortable. All non-emergency procedures will be postponed until the end of confinement. If your pet is facing an emergency, please refer to previous post for steps to follow, or call us for advice on how to proceed 07 5485 0088.... HOW TO AVOID EMERGENCY: Keep up the PREVENTATIVES to avoid the risk of tick paralysis. Please call us to organize them if needed. Keep your pet ON A LEAD and dont let him run down the paddock without tight supervision, that way you will avoid the risk of snake or insect bites, fractures or soft tissue trauma. Be mindful of DOG INTERACTIONS and keep away from unknown animal to minimize the risk of dog fight. Keep your CATS INSIDE to minimize the risks of cat fight abscess, fractures or soft tissue trauma, snake or insect bites or being hit by a car. Remember that some human FOOD are TOXIC for your pet: chocolate, garlic, onion, macadamia nuts, raisins, grapes and marijuana. Lots of PLANTS are TOXIC to dogs and cats (cycad, lilies, etc...). The boredom of staying inside might lead to chewing behavior, make sure you put all your house plants out of reach. To avoid the risk of obstruction, DO NOT FEED BONES / cartilages to your pet. Do NOT feed meats/minces/cheese or other HUMAN FOOD to your pet as it is generally high in fat and protein and could lead to acute pancreatitis. This is a common cause of hospitalization. Keep your pets entertained but please refrain from the STOP AND GO ball / Frisbee game as it frequently leads to cruciate ligament disease that requires surgery. You are just about to spend lots of time at home with your pets so make the most of it! Take care of yourself and each other, Clem, Buzz, and the team at Sunshine Coast Vets.
