24.01.2022 Felt slippers ordered by a return customer. It is difficult to refuse an order by return customers although you have made decision not to make any more pieces. But, how to say no when you can tell that the person really, really, really in love with your work and you do not want to disappoint them? Oh well, it is just one of those days... #feltslippers #handstitch #handmade #felt #handmade #rinonobel_pondokseni #rinonobel #tasmania #huonvalley #geeveston
23.01.2022 It has been a pretty quiet few weeks in the workshop department. I haven't done many pieces although the head is full with a lot of things. Thinking and planning, then back to the drawing board again.... lost in thought.... and at the end I think I have to give in and accept the fact that one can only do one thing at a time despite the 1001 ideas in the head. That is when I decided to do some experiments with making underglaze pencils so I can actually do what I like doin...g on the pieces I am thinking of making, and what I like doing is doodling (I think the posh word is drawing). I like doodling using pencils and charcoals, at the same time I like doing line drawings too. Maybe oneday, after I am happy with the result of my underglaze pencils making, I will try to apply painting using stains or underglazes (hmmm... yes, I like doing painting too). So now you know why I have to do one thing at a time . It is a test of patience for the impatienct me and it has to be slowly slowlycatchy monkey. In the mean time, here are some of my trial pieces.... #handmade #ceramics #trialpieces #patiencetest #underglaze #underglazedrawing #freehanddrawing #slowandsteady #rinonobel #rinonobel_pondokseni #geeveston #huonvalley #tasmania

12.01.2022 Hi all, Howard and I had many heart to heart talks in the last few months. With one thing and another that have been happening in our lives, he has decided that he would take things easy and slowly especially in the creating commercial creative pieces department. What it means is that he will only makes things for 'fun' and not for selling when he wants to. At the time being, He still have some jewellery pieces at the Geeveston Visitor Centre. I would like to take this opportunity to also let you know that I will eventually closed the Pondok Seni website and change it into something else that somehow carries my name. As for out "Pondok Seni/the HR factor" FB page, I haven't decided what the best way to do with it yet, because I would love people to still be able to see all the pieces he has done. Any suggestion?
12.01.2022 I tried to have a go on cold process soap making. This time I decided to use silicone mould and essential oil, while sticking to two types of oil that I always use in the past. It is not as difficult as I thought it would be, but boy, patience (which I don't have many) is surely the key. Now, the waiting just started. I have to do something else for the next 4-6 weeks to find out whether I have done it right. #handmadesoap #handmade #soap #coldprocesssoap #trial #pondokseni #rinonobel_pondokseni
12.01.2022 Have been busy making heaps of these beauties for the last month or so. Tasbih and Mala prayer beads, made from Czech glass beads and they all have my handmade featured/guru glass beads. I will soon have them for sale once I find a space on my messy workshop for me to take picture of every single piece.... Stay tuned!
11.01.2022 Here we are at #makersnestshowcase2019 Our display is the result of me trying to find a way of not having plastic containers and display boxes to fit into our ute. So one night when I was in bed and couldn't sleep, I let my mind to wonder around. And I fell asleep not long after I had the idea how to solve the problem. Poor Howard had to do with the execution of the pieces.... (what is new? so I say to myself!). A display made from boxes that are use to carry our stock.
09.01.2022 Spoons. Just spoons. All right.... many spoons. I started making them because there were some left over clay on the table after a sculpture I did in the past. I find it fun to make them and sooner than later got hooked! But ( there are always many "buts" when you are in the process of trying to make things work), I still had to think of a way making them tough to use, as in not too easilysnap in to two, especially the handles. I think the beauty of not always remember... to treat things gently, you will soon find out the weakness in the functional items you make. (HAH! Is that a good excuse or what?! ) Anyway, I made these little spoons and they are just the size to use for your hot chocolate or scoop out jam or chilli sambal from their container/bowl. And then I thought "why not decorate them so they can compliment the mugs I made?" You can find these spoons at #spacebargallery #spoons #ceramicspoons #handmade #handmadeceramicspoon #handdrawn #handpainted #tasmania #huonvalleytasmania #geeveston #rinonobel #rinonobel_pondokseni
08.01.2022 Tidying up all my bits n pieces when I came across these necklaces using some chinese knotting. I made them about 10-ish years ago to raise some fund to help a friend whose child was hospitalized. Working with the rat tail cords demanded soft fingers, free from dry skin. Otherwise all those fine thread would stick on the fingers and most of the time the cord would become "hairy". I also learned the hard way that having a bit of long nails would help, which was a big problem for me because I never really like having them long ( tedious job to clean them when you do claywork too). And how about when you miss a turn or a loop?! HAH! That is another different story altogether!
07.01.2022 Since few years ago, because one and another reasons, we didn't have a 'proper' shop anymore. We then tried to do few weekend markets and after almost 3 years doing it, we decided to slow down n tried to evaluate what the next step was going to be. While we are still evaluating to this very second (you can not rush this thing, mainly because we need to have a break and try to smell flowers although both of us can sneeze non stop if we do smell flowers too closely), we t...hen put our pieces on consignment at the Geeveston Visitor Centre. And then the pandemic happened and the recent thing we (all local craftmen and artistans who had their pieces at the centre) had to do was to collect our works from the GVC because they are going to close their door for no one knows how long. So now, here I am in my messy spot, in between my mess and boxes of stuff, thinking that I finally have to kick myself to start taking pictures of our pieces and work on the online shop ( I have been dreading to do it as we had an online shop about 10 years ago and it didn't really work as I did not do much as I was too busy making and Howard knew and still knows nothing about computer). So, where was I??? Ah, yes, online shop. So I guess you can expect that in the next few weeks you will see a not so new online shop in a not so new block. Is that a yea or a nay? Suggestion anyone?
06.01.2022 For those who know me well will agree that I am a tough looking woman with avery soft heart, especially when it comesto animals welfare. You might have known that I have been living in Australia for more than 20 years, so it is not surprising that am feeling devastated with the fire situation in mainland which have killed more than 500 million animals. After thinking hard in between trying to not drop any tears (so far so good coz I hv managed to catch dry them with my sl...eeves! Hah!), I decided to have a fund raising by selling all of my handmade pieces. 100% profit will go for this good cause. I haven't decided where I am going to donate the money to, but most probably to some of the impacted sanctuaries. For a start, I will sell them at Kingston Beach Handmade Market this Sunday on 12th January. This is so that I don't have to send anything by mail. In the mean time I will also start taking picture of the pieces I have so I can sell them online. Do come and visit us at the Kingston Beach Handmade Market #charityfundraising #australiabushfire #fortheanimals #handmadecrafts #helpinghand #foragoodcause #charity #handmade #leatherworks #glasswork #screenprinting #totebags #animalprint #fauna #cards #madewithlove @ Pondok Seni / the HR factor
05.01.2022 Shoes...., glorious shoes.... or should I say slippers??? Anyhow, this is just one of those things again.... felt slippers. Ordered by a returned customer. As I mentioned it a while ago, I couldn't say no, even when one's shoulders, elbows and wrists were aching from the too much weeding in the garden. Oh well....! #handmade #feltslippers #handstitched #tasmania #huonvalley #geeveston #rinonobel
05.01.2022 Mugs glorious mugs, are they worth the waiting for? Finally I can say that I am genuinely happy with how my mugs turn out. It has taken me a while, with many hours trying to decide (usually with few glasses of wine) on what kind of style I want to achieve with my general use pieces. I know very well that I like quirky stuff that can bring smile on mine and people's faces. I also know so well that I have to feel happy when I am doing it (you might think that there is so...mething wrong with me as I can easily giggle when I start designing things). So after procrastinating (while my mouth busy chewing munchies and drinking wine) for quite along while and after so many used sketch papers in my "to be shredded fo packaging" pile, I finally came out with almost solid idea that I was quite happy with. I love pencil and charcoal drawing, and I also love line drawing, hence the mugs have different styles and approach. Yes, that is why I am happy because now I know that it is all right to do both style on different pieces Pretty slow at finding that out, right?! All decorations start with outline drawings that I transferred roughly onto the bisqued body using carbon paper and using the line guideline, I freely draw or paint using underglaze pencil or underglaze paints. So now I can start my happy dance before starting the next starting the next batch! PS. these pieces are heading to Spacebar Gallery in Salamanca Place #mugs #ceramicmugs #handrawnunderglaze #handpaintedunderglaze #handmade #tasmanianmade #tasmania #huonvalleytasmania #geeveston #rinonobel #rinonobel_pondokseni
