After 23 odd years the historic Pool Canteen located on the RAAF base at Amberley has been told that they can no longer trade. AAFCANS have decided they will take over it even though they already have two canteens on base. It’s disappointing that after spending over two decades building a strong business based on quality food and prices they feel it's the right thing to do, to come in and takeover. We were told 30th of June 2015 but have now been told shutdown at the end of the year. The pool Canteen would like to thank the people of the RAAF base at Amberley for their support over the last two decades as well as the numerous companies that have used our services. We feel for the other Licensee’s around Australia that have suffered the same fate. It’s a sad day when Government decides on profits over the RAAF community at large. 08.01.2022 Please go along and voice your opinion :) AUTH: BSM ATTN: ALL STAFF AMBERLEY... 150522Z APR 15 SECDEF INVITATION TO ALL BASE PERSONNEL On Mon 20 Apr 15 the Defence Civilian Committee will meet at Gallipoli Barracks, followed by Town Hall meetings led by members of Defence's senior leadership group at Gallipoli Barracks, Victoria Barracks, and RAAF Amberley. The Town Hall meetings are open to all Defence staff who wish to attend, and provide an opportunity to interact and ask questions of members of Defence's senior leadership group. Details of the Town Hall meetings are as follows: 1. Gallipoli Barracks - 1145-1245, in Main Theatre, Monash Centre, Building F079. This meeting will be led by the Secretary, Mr Dennis Richardson. 2. Victoria Barracks Brisbane - 1300-1400, in the RUSI Hall, Building D3. This meeting will be led by Mr Harry Dunstall, A/CEO Defence Materiel Organisation. 3. RAAF Base Amberley - 1300-1400 in the Spurgeon Room, Bld 343 (23SQN HQ). This meeting will be led by Dr Peter Lawrence, the Chief Information Officer. No RSVP is required for this event.
