10.01.2022 Ok so this ones a little gross but if you think Swimmers Ear is something you only need to worry about during summer, think again! Swimmers Ear is an infection in the outer ear canal, which runs from your eardrum to the outside of your head. Its often brought on by water that remains in your ear after swimming, creating a moist environment that aids bacterial growth. So even if you have the healthiest pool on the block because, you know, were looking after it for you, yo...u can still cop a dose of this nasty guy! Putting fingers, cotton swabs or other objects in your ears also can lead to swimmers ear by damaging the thin layer of skin lining your ear canal. To avoid Swimmers Ear, you just need to make sure you dry your ears after swimming your bathing thoroughly and if swimming in a public pool or natural water source, wear swim safe ear plugs. Also avoid putting things in your ears as even minor damage from a cotton tip can make you more susceptible to infection. MILD SYMPTOMS Itching in your ear canal Slight redness inside your ear Mild discomfort thats made worse by pulling on your outer ear (pinna or auricle) or pushing on the little "bump" in front of your ear (tragus) Some drainage of clear, odorless fluid MODERATE SYMPTOMS More-intense itching Increasing pain More-extensive redness in your ear Excessive fluid drainage Feeling of fullness inside your ear and partial blockage of your ear canal by swelling, fluid and debris Decreased or muffled hearing ADVANCED SYMPTOMS Severe pain that might radiate to your face, neck or side of your head Complete blockage of your ear canal Redness or swelling of your outer ear Swelling in the lymph nodes in your neck Fever Contact your doctor if you have even mild signs or symptoms of Swimmers Ear as more advanced stages take longer to clear and can cause sever pain and discomfort.

07.01.2022 OK so youve got some spare time coming up this weekend and youve decided to do some gardening. But what about the garden around your pool? What plants are going to work best there? SALTWATER POOLS Saltwater from pools will definitely kill any plants that susceptible to high salt levels, but if you think about what kinds of plants do well in coastal areas, youll be on the right track. ... Some good examples are Agave attenuate, Bromeliads, Echiums, Cycads and a mixture of palms which provide good shade. Other plants that work well in a saltwater situation are Westringia, Coastal Banksia, Chinese Hibiscus, Olive and Rosemary. CHLORINATED POOLS With chlorinated pools, you need to make sure that the plants you choose can handle the occasional splash of chlorine. You want too look for plants with tough, leathery leaves that will better withstand chemical damage. Plants like Mondo grass, Cordyline or Star Jasmine are great for this purpose. A consideration for both kinds of pools is leaf litter. Deciduous trees are the bane of any pool owners existence, so avoid plants that loose their leaves and flowers the moment the seasons change. Also make sure whatever plants you choose are not likely to cause structural damage to the pool. Plants with extensive and/or strong roots systems can cause BIG problems in the future so choose wisely.

Two days before your party, use a clarifier to group smaller particles to make it easier for your filter to remove debris... On the day of your party, check the chlorine level in the morning and adjust it if necessary. After your party, restore the water balance by using a maintenance oxidiser to eliminate any organic build-ups and run the filter overnight.
