22.01.2022 Olympia London back with a baby boom! https://popgroup.com.au/olympia-london-back-with-a-baby-bo/ UK venue Olympia London says it is ready to welcome back events from October this year with a robust new plan of measures designed to ensure organisers, exhibitors and visitors all know they are in a safe place to enjoy events.... The venue is returning to the UK exhibition stage with a bang, staging the popular The Baby Show, 23-25 October. The show has expanded its offering to combine the physical show at the Olympia Grand with an online content-driven platform that is included in the ticket price. We’re delighted that The Baby Show will be our first big consumer show this autumn and plans are underway with a range of other trade and consumer shows, too. It’s exciting to be gearing up to host sensational events with sensible measures, says Nigel Nathan, Olympia London’s managing director. For over 134 years, Olympia London, along with our fellow venues around the UK, have been vital to the building and rebuilding of trade for the UK so we continue to lobby for more specific recognition of our industry’s challenges and to get support to help us through these uniquely difficult times. Attracting over 1.6m visitors each year, Olympia London contributes 1.3bn (US$1.73bn) to the UK economy each year and supports over 16,000 jobs. Olympia London’s plan of measures is in alignment with the Association of Event Venues’ (AEV) All Secure Standard, which the UK government has recognised as the official guidance to run events. The enhanced safety measures include social distancing, hand sanitisers, helpful signage, the use of PPE, Covid-19 cleaning policy, changes to catering and car parking. The venue says it is aiming to not only provide a safe environment for this new chapter, but to instil visitor confidence, and enable great visitor experiences. Olympia London is also working with each event organiser for upcoming shows to ensure the needs of each audience is thoroughly met with additional safety and reassurance measures. Date: September 11, 2020 Prime Minister Scott Morrison has confirmed $50 million in support for Australia’s business events industry. This news confirms the Government’s recognition of the critical role that exhibitions and business events play in rebuilding the Australian economy. The new Australian Business Events Grants Program will see organisers of meetings, conventions, incentive and exhibitions able to apply for upfront grants to cover up to 50% of their costs (between $10,000 and $250,000). The EEAA has worked extensively with BECA to facilitate this result and we are now in a much stronger position to commence rebuilding business confidence and injecting much-needed cash flow through the supply chain. The EEAA will continue to work closely with BECA on the design and implementation of the Australian Business Events Grants Program. The funding is part of the Government’s $1 billion COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Fund which supports sectors severely impacted by the pandemic. We are also consulting closely with BECA and ACCI for clear guidelines on state and territory border reopenings, to provide predictability and transparency in the way borders are being managed so businesses can forward plan and book their next business event. This is very welcome news for the industry and we are truly appreciative of this assistance extended by Government.
