25.01.2022 From 10 to 20! Sweet relief for our clients who have previously had to stretch out their therapy sessions, despite needing them to properly recover and treat underlying issues. The 2020 budget has increased the number of rebatable sessions and this is sorely needed to help those most vulnerable in our community.

17.01.2022 Today we celebrate Eddie Mabo's win against 'terra nullius'. The case marks a win for Mabo and First Peoples in history. Mabo fought to win back the right for Indigenous people to call Australia their land. This lead to recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the traditional custodians and owners of this land. Mabo Day also marks the end to National Reconciliation Week. More than a word, Reconciliation takes action!

01.01.2022 This week is Birth Trauma Awareness Week. According to the Australasian Birth Trauma Association 1 in 3 Australian women identify their birth as traumatic - an...d partners can experience birth-related trauma, too. Birth trauma can be physical, psychological or a combination of both. This year's theme is "journeys" - a chance for families to #starttheconversation and share their stories and their road to recovery. As part of COPE's The Mum Drum, Rachel Watts of Yummy Mummies, spoke candidly about her traumatic birth experience with her first son, Harvey. Rachel and her husband Jayson describe the unplanned events that unfolded at birth, and the profound impact this has had on them. They also share their advice with others who are navigating a similar experience. You can watch this episode below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9dkT76R8vw&feature=emb_logo It's important to remember that recovering from a traumatic birth can take time. Find some tips and strategies to help you recover on our site here: https://www.cope.org.au//recovering-from-a-traumatic-birth/ Image by The Postpartum Stress Center
