From the world-renowned Bordeaux area, produced by a family who have been making wine since the mid 1800's, is this very pretty merlot dominant rosé. Merlot was first cloned in Bordeaux and outplants its sibling cabernet sauvignon by 2 to 1 in the region. It is by far the most important grape on right bank of the Gironde Estuary and some of the most special clones on the pla...net are found here. When we first tasted this wine, we fell in love! We had to bring it back to Australia! It is an aromatic wine with a nose that has notes of strawberry and cherry while the palate is very lively and fresh with just enough fruit but not too overpowering. The Haut Maco rosé is a perfect session wine. There are some traces of soft tannis which also make it an outstanding food wine. Lunch on a spring day with family and friends, you can match almost any food with this gorgeous drop. Went down superbly with rosemary roast chicken!
