25.01.2022 Move Explore Be Workshop April 8th 11-3pm at EN. YOGA! I am so excited for this workshop. It combines all my favourite things and practices I have been learning and teaching for many years!... I started my journey of yoga 18 years ago, as I was travelling around the world. From there I delved into the practices of pranayama and meditation and in 2009, I began the journey of becoming a teacher with Yoga Space: West Perth, Maylands & Carine! I love yoga and meditation and love sharing the practice. These practices have been my anchor over the years to help deal with the ups downs of life. Over the past few years, I felt I needed to explore different forms of movement, while Yoga helped me in many ways I felt there were some areas in my body that needed something different. I began exploring Conscious Dance. Conscious Dance is a mindful practice, where we move the body in a free flow without limitations and structures. I love this practice and the freedom I felt in exploring my body through dance to move how I felt I needed to.... to let go of the inhibitions and not care how I looked to the outside. It was very healing for me. I also started strength and movement training with Tejovra TJ and Aspen Coaching. This type of training was vital for me and my over all well- being. I realised quickly I was very flexible , but my strength was lacking. I needed to find a balance between the two. I feel so much stronger and stable in body and mind through this type of movement training. I love to move and feel it is so important for us to all explore different forms of movement. The ways we move have become very linear, even when we exercise. We sit too much and spend a lot of time in front of computers and with our phones. Movement is life and when we start to move mindfully, explore our bodies, we also explore ourselves, our minds, our patterns our tendencies and so much more. We can begin to see the mind - body connection. In this workshop, we will MOVE ourselves through yoga and various movement patterns, EXPLORE ourselves through dance and BE with ourselves through breathing and meditation. We will create space to truly open ourselves up to our full potential through the journey of movement. Cost is $97. 25.01.2022 Oh yes... life can be challenging... I love this quote from Pema Chodron. I draw upon it regularly, when I am experiencing down times, uncomfortable feelings e...tc... I really do feel in times of challenge there is so much opportunity for growth!! In life, we think that the point is to pass the test or overcome the problem. The truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. Personal discovery and growth come from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy. Suffering comes from wishing things were different. Misery is self inflicted, when we are expecting the ideal to overcome the actual, or needing things (or people, or places) to be different for us so we can then be happy. Let the hard things in life break you. Let them effect you. Let them change you. Let these hard moments inform you. Let this pain be your teacher. The experiences of your life are trying to tell you something about yourself. Don’t cop out on that. Don’t run away from it. Lean into it. Yes lean into it I find having a practice- meditation, yoga, dance, breathing, can be so helpful to deal with the downs and help us live more presently and see the impermanence of life! 25.01.2022 New beginnings... change... new adventures ... woo hoo Pop Up Yoga has been going for over 4 years now! I just love Pop Up Yoga and the concept of teaching in different business spaces .... sharing space to share yoga with the community! I am so grateful for Beaufort Street Books And Method Clothing for letting me use there spaces to share what I love!!! As of April, there will be some changes to the schedule. The Monday and Wednesday classes will no longer be running. ...The Saturday class at @beaufortstbooks will run as usual at 8:45am. 23.01.2022 Your Breathing is your greatest friend. Return to it in all your troubles and you will find comfort and guidance. ~ Unknown Nice reminder for me today! I am having a Self care day at the beach... so great that we have the breath with us at all times... a tool we can use in times of trouble, stress, overwhelm. Sometimes I forget, but as soon as I start deepening the breath consciously I feel so much better, grounded and centred. There are many breathing practices out there.... 14.01.2022 The Glorification of Busy Have you noticed how much we say we are so busy... I have, myself included! I believe somewhere along the way we have glorified being ...busy... That being busy means we are accomplishing more and more successful. However with this feeling busy, so much stress anxiety, overwhelm occur. We are constantly on the go and filling all our time and mental space up with things to do, information, social media, news, etc! I hear this often, there is just not enough time, not enough hours in the day! Whilst there are things that need to be done on a daily base with family, work, daily tasks... I feel that we can change a few things in our day and take a slight different perspective to help slow down, live more presently and feel less stress. I believe when we take better care of ourselves, really take time to slow down, sleep more, meditate, do other practices, fill our cup, we will feel so much better. Slowing Down does not make us less productive but actually more. Finding time daily to do this is so important for our overall well being... body, mind and soul. It does take a conscious effort to do this. We are in the habit of doing all the time, rushing, believing more is better that it can be challenging to actually slow down! Plus our environment has a big impact, like living in a fast paced city or in a fast paced working environment Here are a few things that I have worked on to shift these patterns and shift my busy state of mind: - schedule in regular meditations time and make time for my other practices, like dance and yoga - schedule in no technology time! - schedule time to spend with family playing games or going for a walk, - making sure I get more sleep (forget about this one sometimes!) - eat slower and make sure I am sitting down (again this one I am still working on) We can do this, it just takes a few little changes, a shift in the way we look at our day and what our priorities are. We can still get things done, accomplish our goals, share with our family and friends, but with less stress and anxiety. 13.01.2022 At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want. ~ Lao Tzu Ahhh so true... we have the answers within us! How often though do we look, search for the answers outside us! Whether it is our families, society that we look to for the answers to define ourselves... or searching in religion and spiritual practices, teachers, gurus for the answers. Whilst all of this can help us, only we can truly know who we are and what is best fo...r us... And at the end of the day we are our own guru! This takes courage and fortitude to step into our own, to be who we truly are! We fear judgement, rejection and really it can feel scary to just slow down and go inward! We are scared of what we might find and feel! But truly it is so important to go on the journey of self discovery and be who we truly are! I think we will find once we start the journey it is not as scary as think and remember... we are all in this journey together.... doing the best we can in each moment! Over 9 years ago, I embarked on the journey to become a teacher with Jean Byrne and Rob Schutze from the The Yoga Space Perth, Australia and Wisdom Yoga Institute It was such a wonderful and transformative time. The foundation and knowledge I received from the training and mentorship was amazing.... And now I am super excited to be able to teach and share with students on their journey to become a teacher. 11.01.2022 Conscious Pause I love to take mini pauses throughout my day, especially when I feel stressed or overwhelmed.... it is like hitting the reset button. Take time in your day to get grounded by taking a few rounds of deep breathing... not thinking about what you have on for the rest of the day or what happened in the morning ... just focusing on the inhale and exhale! Something I have been thinking about a lot... is how often we do not connect with people in our daily life... the barista at our local cafe, the person checking us out at the shop, our neighbour, etc... we often don’t take time to slow down and connect with people... we tend to be wrapped up in our own thoughts, rushing to the next place we need to be. Human connection is so important... and a simple hi how are you... can go a lo...ng way in your day and the person you are chatting with... we are all on this journey together ... doing the best we can each day! I think a little more connection in our daily life can actually be so beneficial to our wellbeing! Hope you are having an amazing day! 05.01.2022 Conversations at the Playground The other day Noah and I were at the playground. He was standing up on some of the playground equipment and thinking about jumping. He asked me to help him. I knew he could do it with out my help. I encouraged him to jump without my help. Noah: No, mommy I am scared?... Me: What are you scared of? Noah: I might fall and hurt myself. Me: The ground is soft and I am here for you, if you fall. After few moments of contemplation he took the leap and landed on the ground with ease! He jumped up and was so excited and proud of himself and said again again!!! Then continued to jump off the equipment a few more times. I reflected on this afterwards and thought what a lesson for me! How often am I scared to take a jump... into the unknown.... what will happen... will I get hurt ,what if I fall, what if I fail, what if I am judged... the 'what ifs' list could go on and on!!!!! How many times have we been so scared of something, built a whole 'what if' story in our head, and then finally did it and it was not bad at all, in fact actually very exciting, rewarding and exhilarating. Yes jumping into the unknown is challenging, as we don't know what the future holds, things happens, things don't go exactly to our plan. We can get hurt, but then don't we learn and grow from this. Standing on the edge waiting for something to happen... is this a place we want to be... I don't think so! For me taking chances is living! Exploring life, ourselves and what are capabilities are... I feel we are actually much stronger and braver than we think... it is our own self limiting thoughts that hold us back. Look right now, I can think of a few situations that have been too scared to take the leap. Hence why I am writing this to build up my courage to take action, make the leap of faith. I feel it is really important for us to reflect on these fears, what holds us back from our dreams, holds back from our truth, our full potential. Awareness is the first step. Also lets look at what we do have... I have a beautiful son, supportive family and friends. I have people in my life that have my back.
