23.01.2022 Seasons Greetings to our ‘Friends of the Choir’ We would like to thank you all for your great support of our concerts in 2019! Our Musical Director, Sarah Dockrill, and choir members are now looking towards next year and planning our two major concerts on Saturday June 27th and Saturday November 28th 2020. For those of you who love singing and listening to Christmas carols, we will be singing at a Christmas Service at The Uniting Church next Sunday, 1st December, at 2pm. We’...d love to see you there! 21.01.2022 Port Harmony has been singing for Port Stephens since 2010. Perhaps you came to our last concert, held at the end of June this year, which was a huge success. The programme consisted of the choir singing each member’s favourite song: a wonderful mix of contemporary, jazz and classical music. 19.01.2022 Status update.... After nine wonderful years our musical director, Kathryn Dries, has decided to hang up her Port Harmony 'baton'. As you can imagine it was a very tough decision and we are very sad to see her go. Kathryn is now a 'friend of the choir' and we look forward to seeing her in the audience in the near future. We would like to introduce our new musical director, Sarah Dockrill, and Kathryn assures that she is leaving us in very good hands.... A snippet about Sarah..... Soprano Sarah Dockrill is a Novacastrian opera singer who is currently an Adjunct Artist with Pacific Opera in Sydney. This year Sarah was the winner of the Cantorian Singing Competition and runner up at the Taree Eisteddfod Aria Final. Sarah was the winner of the Michael Saunders Aria Final and the Lauris Elms Art Song Award at the Lake Macquarie Eisteddfod in 2018 and consequently performed in the Lake Macquarie Eisteddfod Champions Concert in March this year. Sarah has performed as a guest artist with the Newcastle Youth Orchestra at the Civic Park Christmas Concert, ‘Serenade under the stars’, the ‘Classics on the Boardwalk’ in Honeysuckle and at the Newcastle Club. In 2017 Sarah made her operatic debut performing the role of Claudia in the ‘Diva’s on Demand’ production of La Caduta De’Decemviri by Alessandro Scarlatti in Sydney. Sarah was a featured young artist as a part of the first Twilight Musical Dialogues Concert with Sally Walker’s concert series from Five Continents. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from the University of New South Wales and an AMUSA in Singing. Sarah is currently studying with Mezzo Soprano, Deborah Humble.

03.01.2022 Saturday 26th October at 2pm, Port Harmony is taking part in the SeaSide Singers Choral Festival Concert Universal Harmony in conjunction with numerous other choirs from across the Hunter Region, plus a visiting choir from Tateyama in Japan. This will be a public concert and tickets are $20, available at the door. The venue is Soldiers Point Bowling Club, 118 Soldiers Point Road, Soldiers Point. ... Each choir will be performing their own chosen repertoire before the concert ends with the combined choir. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear a wide variety of music sung by numerous choirs from our own region as well as one from Japan.
