25.01.2022 A talk totally unrelated to Steiner Education, yet watching it I couldn’t help but notice the parallels between Ingrid Fetell’s research on joy, and the architecture, colour, and classroom in a Steiner School. Tiny details like curved edges on drawing paper, the whole colour spectrum in a multiplicity of areas, beauty in every aspect of the children’s environment, rounded natural materials and flowers and fruits growing in the garden... nothing is without purpose. The spaces ...and materials leave you with a sense of ease and yes perhaps joy. One of the most lovely experiences I’ve had was to sit behind the children’s desks in Class 2 and be taught by their teacher. No wonder the parents walk into the classroom and want to stay, and every afternoon takes so much coaxing for children to leave. As you look around your home, what could you change, add or remove to bring just a little more joy into your day? See more
21.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers at Port Macquarie Steiner School, We are ready for our first few days of the school year, and welcome new and old families and children! We have been advised by the AIS to communicate the latest health advice coming from the Dept. of Education regarding the CoronaVirus.... You will be aware of the coronavirus outbreak that originated in the Hubei province in China, and now the presence of confirmed cases in Australia. The School has been monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of our community as we prepare for the return of students. Having taken all advice into account, the School has decided to communicate the following for you to respond accordingly to your situation: If your child has travelled to any part of China, including Hong Kong, over the school holiday break, we ask that you keep him or her at home for 14 days from the date of departure from China; If your child shows flu-like symptoms such as fever of respiratory symptoms, including a cough, we encourage you to visit a GP and ask that you inform the School via the office on your child’s campus; If you yourself have recently been to China, we ask that you refrain from attending start of school year functions; If you travelled to China over the break, please contact the office of your child’s campus with details of where in China you travelled and what date you arrived back in Australia. If you have any questions, the following website provides regular updates on the virus https://www.health.gov.au/health-topics/novel-coronavirus Warm regards, and happy new year, 2020.

15.01.2022 Port Macquarie Steiner School is officially on holidays. The office will be unattended until Monday 20th January. Wishing everyone a happy and safe Christmas and start to the New Year.
14.01.2022 Something unique to Steiner Education is the beautiful hand-drawn chalkboard drawings that the teachers create throughout each Main Lesson. Each day the children take delight in seeing what new drawing will be revealed as the teacher opens up the wings of the chalkboard... something connected from the story content they heard the previous day. Steiner education is embedded with beauty and art, which the children creatively work with each and every day.
14.01.2022 HEAD, HEART, HANDS: REFLECTIONS ON STEINER EDUCATION IN AUSTRALIA 1957-2020 Steiner Education Australia is excited to be involved with the Australian National ...Museum of Education exhibition on Steiner education in Australia 1957-2020. The exhibition, which is housed in the University of Canberra Library Exhibition Space, opens at 9am on February 24th and runs until March 27th. The official opening is on Friday March 6th at 4.30pm. There will be a book launch at the official opening of Dr Tom Stehlik’s new book Waldorf Schools and the History of Steiner Education: an International View of 100 Years. It would be wonderful to see as many people there as possible to celebrate where we have come from within our own place, time and sense of community. This conscious reflection both informs and transforms the future coming towards us. Now more than ever before, Steiner education is recognised as a highly valued approach to develop flexible and agile thinking and an ability to collaborate and thrive in as 21st century world. This exhibition reflects the growing importance and influence of alternate approaches to education which are coming in from the margins to take a rightful place as part of a broader educational mainstream. The Head, hearts and hands: reflections on Steiner Education in Australia 1957-2020 will be held at the University of Canberra Library Exhibition Space, Ground Floor, Building 8, University of Canberra. 24 February - 27 March, 2020. Free Admission.

05.01.2022 Our school teachers would like to set up for our small community of parents and children a book sharing library for parents to have access to at our school in these troubled times. We are kindly asking the wider community out there for donations. Maybe you have some Steiner - inspired fiction books collecting dust that you would be happy to pass on to our children at our school, suitable for K-3? Maybe your older child has outgrown them now and they’re ready to go to younger ...children in need of inspiration at this time? Donations of Steiner-inspired picture books, fairy tales, Floris-type stories, or suitable Chapter books that parents could read to their children etc. All would be welcome. The hope would be to add these to our very small school library in the future, which currents mostly comprises of books for adults. If you are able to contribute, Thank you! Pls send to our school address Port Macquarie Steiner School, PO Box 485, Port Macquarie NSW 2444 Thank you blessings See more
