24.01.2022 A few months ago we posted about the poor facilities and lack of treatment capabilities at Tomaree Community Hospital. A response from Hunter New England Health (HNEH) stated that 'Tomaree Community Hospital has improved its services over the past few years, and is focused to further improve and increase its services into the future. Within the next few months, Hunter New England Health will be conducting feasibility studies into the hospital's X-ray services as well as pati...ent transport services. Plans to construct a helipad on the hospital's grounds for easier and more effective patient transport capabilities, rather than transporting patients by ambulance to Bill Strong Oval to transfer patients, is currently being considered by HNEH'. In order to improve the hospital's services and facilities, it is important that the community raises any issues, problems or suggestions, in order for them to be identified and addressed. To do this please contact Gary Spain, the Tomaree Community Hospital's service manager on 4984 0709 See more

22.01.2022 Port Stephens residents are calling upon Port Stephens Council to prioritise the construction of the FINGAL BAY LINK ROAD and consider a footbridge on Shoal Bay Road, after the Tomaree Peninsula recorded the worst traffic congestion it has ever experienced, over the Christmas and New Year period. The most congested stretch of Road on the Tomaree Peninsula was along Shoal Bay Road (Shoal Bay and Nelson Bay) and Nelson Bay's Victoria Parade, ( through the traffic lights and alo...ng the foreshore). The cause for the majority of the congestion on Shoal Bay Road has been identified as being the extremely busy pedestrian crossing at the entrance to Shoal Bay Holiday Park. The frequent crossing of pedestrians causes busy holiday traffic to stretch from the crossing way back past Nelson Bay Diggers. A footbridge at the existing pedestrian crossing is an urgent requirement, which would provide a solution to the congestion, however the link road is also required to ease congestion throughout the Tomaree Peninsula. Emergency service response times can more than double due to this congestion. What do you believe was the most congested road on the Tomaree peninsula? See more

13.01.2022 We would like to wish everybody a very happy and safe New Years Eve!! Remember- enjoy yourself but enjoy yourself responsibly. Police will be out in numbers throughout today, tonight and tomorrow conducting RBT, Drug Tests and public order activities, so plan your NYE . Thank You to each and every person who has supported and contributed to our pages throughout 2013! Without you guys, our pages would not exist! Its been a big year in Port Stephens with so many fantastic as well as heartbreaking events occurring throughout the area in 2013. But through both the good times and the bad, heartwarming displays of heroism, bravery and the community bonding together as one has been clearly evident throughout the area in 2013, which is amazing to see! What are the top most memorable Port Stephens events of 2013 in your opinion?

09.01.2022 Good to see some smart thinking locals at Shoal Bay today use their heads to fix a tap in which had broken, leading to a torent of water flooding the foreshore area. The 3 men quickly found the main water switch, turning it off and calling Port Stephens Council to deal with the water problem. Although a quick fix, the faulty tap highlights the dire need for the entire Shoal Bay foreshore to be upgraded. While the eastern end has recently been revamped, the most popular centra...l and western sections of the foreshore, still remain dilapidated and in some cases unusable. Missing seats, narrow footpaths, steep beach access, leaking taps and showers, a lack of BBQ's and overall dated and dilapidated facilities are all a problem on the foreshore and residents and tourists alike have had enough of the neglection that the foreshore is receiving by council, which, some believe, is taking away from the breathtaking natural beauty of Shoal Bay. To assist us in highlighting this issue, we are asking you to please email Port Stephens Council to voice your support for the upgrade of the entire foreshore: [email protected] See more
