25.01.2022 THIS IS ABSOLUTELY SHATTERING! As restrictions have been REVISED now that Metro is at the same restrictions level as Regional Victoria. We already will have no Pennant competition until the new year - at this stage. Also, now we will not be able to hold our triples or invitationals. Please read the revised Return to Play guidelines.

25.01.2022 Our green is closed but it applies to any of our members wanting to bowl at other venues.

25.01.2022 UPDATE 16/11: BV may have provided incorrect info on running Turkey triples - awaiting 100% accurate info. Teams notified ASAP. Our monthly 3-bowl triples will go ahead this Wed. 18th under current guidelines. Bowls attire. BYO LUNCH. Alternatively, we recommend you try the fish&chips at the Pt Welshpool StoreA big thank you to teams entered so far. We will have raffles of locally caught fish.

23.01.2022 Last week would have been our last triples day for the season. This now means it's essential green maintenance time. Without a contractor this year, meant dusting off the old MultiCore machine, which no one can remember when the last time it was used. It was slow going, taking just over 5 hours to cover the whole green. Thanks to Trevor, John, Errol and also Alan Spooner for their time whilst exercising their social distancing. Next is fertilizer and spreading 4 cubic metres of sand over the green by hand, then brushing it in.

23.01.2022 The new Yarram newspaper is called The Bridge. In this weeks edition there is a quiz on local bowls and golf. There are a few questions that relate to our club so, here are photos of our honor boards for anyone visit our FB page to find the answers. Note: boards are not up to date.

23.01.2022 Any funds are greatly accepted. COVID-19 doesn't stop the bills from piling up.

22.01.2022 Lockdown for COVID-19 or not, essential maintenance has to be done while also maintaining social distancing. With the green tucked-in for winter, a start has been made on replacing the timbers on the east and west green edges.

20.01.2022 Bowlers in Victoria are doing it tough right now. Stage 4 means no bowls or social activities with clubs closed, and Stage 3 means very limited activity. We're ...all missing our Friday night drinks at the club, which would often include a member draw or raffle. Welcome to the Starting Friday 11th September, one lucky member, and their club, could win ,! That's , and , ! But... there's a catch. We need your help. We're talking to you, the club secretary or person responsible for getting your club's member details entered into Bowlslink. The winning member drawn * by having a complete and accurate Bowlslink profile, which will be verified by BV. If the data cannot be verified, ,. This will continue each Friday until we find a winner. So get your club data in check and ensure all your bowling members are in Bowlslink. It will only benefit your club moving forward. Think pennant results, club comps, tournaments, etc. Members with playing rights MUST be in Bowlslink. One location for all your member data, and it doesn't cost your club a cent, just a small amount of your time, which right now many of you have plenty of! So members, get onto your secretaries, and offer help if needed, to get your club's data up to date. Click here for entry criteria*, full T&C's, FAQ's, draw process and Bowlslink resources: https://www.bowlsvic.org.au/competitions/

19.01.2022 - Club houses to remain closed. Greens now closed. No roll ups or social bowls for the next 6 weeks. ... The new directions commenced at 6.00pm on Sunday 2nd August, and will continue for six weeks to 11:59pm on Sunday 13th September. Excerpt from State Government Summary of Restrictions Move to Stage 4: The area moving to Stage 4 ‘Stay at Home’ restrictions is comprised of the 31 metropolitan Melbourne local government areas (LGAs): Banyule, Hume, Moreland, Bayside, Kingston, Mornington Peninsula, Boroondara, Knox, Nillumbik, Brimbank, Manningham, Port Phillip, Cardinia, Maribyrnong, Stonnington, Casey, Maroondah, Whitehorse, Darebin, Melbourne, Whittlesea, Frankston, Melton, Wyndham, Glen Eira, Monash, Yarra, Greater Dandenong, Moonee Valley, Yarra Ranges, Hobsons Bay. The restrictions that apply to the area where you live follow you if you leave that area, unless the area you are entering has tighter restrictions in which case you must observe those. Recreation: activities such as fishing, golf, boating, tennis, surfing and drive range shooting are not allowed. Outdoor sporting facilities: closed. ( ) New directions commence at . . Excerpt from State Government Summary of Restrictions Move to Stage 3: Outdoor sport: only allowed to exercise, or activities such as fishing, golf, boating, tennis, surfing with one other person or household members, provided 1.5 metre distance can be maintained. Outdoor sporting facilities: closed, except for facilities where public gathering and physical distancing limits can be adhered to and there is no use of shared equipment or communal facilities (e.g. tennis courts, golf courses). Under Stage 3 restrictions all club competitions must cease, however rolls up can continue if the above, and previously advised Stage 3 restrictions (2 per rink, 10 per green, 1.5m distancing, face covering), are strictly adhered to. Clubs must have Council approval to be open (if on Council land) and a Return to Play document that addresses all Stage 3 restrictions. Under the new restrictions, greenkeepers can continue to carry out their work. The guidelines state, ‘essential maintenance for safety and upkeep of public and recreational spaces, such as parks, gardens, golf courses’ is permitted, with a COVID-Safe plan. Bowls Victoria encourages clubs to do enough to keep greens in condition, without keeping them at their usual standard during the season. For clubs with a paid greenkeeper, please carefully consider their contract(s) and/or employment law for guidance. FOR FURTHER INFO: https://bit.ly/BVStage4 https://bit.ly/BVStage3 We know that this news is hard to take, but it is for the best interests of everyone in our community that we all play our part, so that we can soon get back to some sort of normal. Look after yourselves, look after your mates, and stay safe. Team BV

19.01.2022 Updated guidelines from June 1st

18.01.2022 Another superb day for our Sunday social bowls today. Our new bowlers are developing their skills and learning the basic rules whilst playing in a social team atmosphere. We encourage and welcome all first time bowlers as we all have to start somewhere.

17.01.2022 Men's 2020/21 Events

16.01.2022 After a king tide flooded the club's carpark over Easter, our once green grass now looks like this. It actually overflowed at the far end and into the caravan park. Thank you to John Roberts for removing all the washed up debris.

16.01.2022 CLARIFICATION: We can have 3 groups of 10 bowlers on the green at any time with a 10 metre spacing between groups. E.g., rinks 1, 4 & 7. With social distancing of 1.5m. No social or barefoot bowlers allowed in this rule - Full members only. We cannot define this as "Pennant Practice" with SGBD not having a pennant competition running. FACE MASKS WHILST ON THE GREEN IS AGAIN MANDATORY.... Bowls Victoria does acknowledge the confusion and frustration this creates but it is so Metro and Regional Victoria can be under the same guidelines going forward. These guidelines may be revised on the 8th of Nov. See more

14.01.2022 Update COVID-19 restrictions

13.01.2022 Happy Easter to all lawn bowlers out there who are going through bowls withdrawal. Stay safe and hopefully we can get back on the greens ASAP.

08.01.2022 The green is all done for the Winter break. Cored, fertilized and top dressed with sand. With a huge amount of gratitude, we had the sand spread by Phil Schofield, the greenkeeper at the Foster Golf Club. Their club's brilliant new machine (see photo in comments) was greatly appreciated. It's safe to say we had a few relieved volunteers knowing they didn't have to barrow and spread 4 cubic metres of sand by hand.

06.01.2022 Our triples is cancelled for this Wednesday 18th Nov. BV information given last Friday was not correct. On a positive, it was great that so many clubs wanted to attend. So much so, we would have had a full green. Hopefully we will see these teams at our next triples date.

06.01.2022 Do we think the relocated flagpole is tall enough? Thanks to John, Trevor, Errol and some other extra muscle that helped to get the 80+kg steel pole into place. I think you may see the flag from the end of the Long Jetty now.

06.01.2022 A magnificent sunny day and a good turn out for our first Members Social Sunday bowls this season. It's a great opportunity for our new bowlers to practice their skills and learn the rules and eticate from experienced bowlers in a relaxed setting.

05.01.2022 Great to see the #SouthGippslandShireCouncil doing some well overdue maintenance to our kitchen. Photos to come this weekend.

05.01.2022 SGBD have released the Saturday Pennant draw for this season commencing 9th January. Reminder: this is a shortened season to only playing each team once. The final will be a one-off between the top 2 teams - GF location to be determined.

02.01.2022 SGBD Ladies State Events 2020/21 and Midweek Pennant dates. Note: There is no Midweek Pennant draw yet as some clubs are yet provided their teams.

02.01.2022 To our players - this Friday evening, 20th Nov or Sunday 22nd Nov are the day to get fitted for our new club shirts. This is so we have the best chance of receiving them before Pennant starts on 9th Jan. Also, providing Travelling Jack has received our orders, Julie will be back on Friday too. She will be available to take new order whilst here too. Contact Errol to confirm her attendance.

02.01.2022 As our members will know, we are updating the colour of our club shirts away from the predominantly white shirt. The supplier has sent out a full sizing sample range of both men's and ladies shirts for us to try on. Below is the sizing chart and the style of shirts as requested at our last meeting. ALL CURRENT MEMBERS MUST HAVE THEIR SIZES IN ON FRIDAY 20TH NOVEMBER EVENING AS THE ORDER WILL BE SENT TO THE SUPPLIER MONDAY 23TH NOVEMBER.

01.01.2022 The new East and West banks are done!! They are now solid and safe with the end result looking fantastic. A huge thank you to John, Errol, Trevor and Robin for the massive effort and time it took - 14 full days in total, mostly spent crawling on hands and knees. Also, thank you to Gary Roberts for sourcing essential materials for the project and Cheryl for providing us with lunches. Projects like these cannot be done in a small club like ours without the dedication of our passionate members volunteering their time and resources.
